Default How much should I offer for this vette?

A local guy here has a very nice Z06 that i'm quite interested in buying. The car is a 2001 Z06, black, with 15K miles on it. Wheels and tires are stock, interior is in awesome condition, paint is perfect. The motor is a 6.0 iron block bored to 4.060", 4" callies forged crank, crower billet 6" rods, CP pistons (he said they were 33CC dished, not sure if this is off-the-shelf or not), LS6 heads hogged out to 77CC's and stage 2 port work, ferra valves and MTI valvesprings/retainers/etc, stock LS6 intake, and 55 lb/hr injectors. Guy had a stack of receipts for the stuff (including machine work, logs of oil changes, even recorded all his fillups) and seemed really honest and straightforward. Said he was going to go blower once the motor was broken in, but he ran into some divorce trouble and needs to sell it. So, around how much do you think I should offer this guy for it? I havn't seen any cars with this kind of work for sale before, and I don't want to go there and lowball him and have him take it as an insult, or offer way too much and get screwed on it.

Tell him to give you what is fair and you will consult with your other half or your mechanic. That way you can come back here and get more advice.

Remember that mods don't resell good...So just offer what a regular ZO6 would go for..

lemme guess, never raced too?

i buy used cars stock, or modded from my mechanic only. Otherwise you know what you do with modded cars.

you drove it like you stole it, got tired of it, broke it, whatever, then put more mods on it and drove it higher.

Very rarely do people spend that kinda cash and just drive them to work and back. werd.

.
ask him what he is willing to let it go for, that will give you a good ballpark.

get the KBB trade-in rate. thats what carmax would give him -5 to -10%. Dealers more like -10%+.

if he's in a money pinch and has to ditch it (just hypothetical) you might get a sweet deal.

I personally wouldn't pay more than $30,000 for it. And even that is stretching it a bit.
