Default Possible to hand-port LS1 intake?

Newbie question, anyone ever tried hand-porting a stock LS1 intake? Just wondering if it's been done, and if so, if it's worth the effort. Looking for the power of the LS6 intake (if possible), but for the time being don't want to spend the money on one, and am focusing on making my car handle better.

Sure its possible but you wont get ls6 numbers out of it because the ls6 is made larger not something you can achieve with sandpaper and elbow grease

Possible...yes. worth it, no. The ls6 and all aftermarket intakes have larger plenum area, which is where power comes from. You will out run the plenum before you max out the runners. Making larger runners without opening up the plenum will only put your intake under vacuum sooner and you will most likely lose mid range power.

Prices have been going up from what I've seen. People swapping truck motors and wanting the car intakes are raising the prices.

$75-100 is definitely possible on ebay
