big LSX motor with H/C and have it maximized for optimal power when you want more later on.

its going to cost you though. built trans whichever youre going with will be necessary and not cheap.

10-20k area unless you can install everything.

N/A. I read that ls engines don't really like supercharges for long term durability

well, you can have them built for boost like anything else but my friends 5th gen is making over 600 on a mustang dyno on a stock bottom end running a PC.

Interesting...

230,000 mile procharger setup...https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...000-miles.html

This is a list of STOCK LS engines on boost... https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...lity-list.html

Build a LS engine for some boost and see how long it lasts VS the stockers ^^^

good stuff.

i remember when these motors first came out people insisted they wouldnt last under boost on stock bottom ends.

I didn't realize it would cost that much. I'm glad I asked before I started buying things to start the build.

I really don't want to pay 20k I might just have to tone down the amount of power I want. I don't have any plans on going to the track I just wanted something a lil more than stock for those red light challengers lol

lets see, I've got 481rwhp NA, paid 2500 for motor, trans, harness, and ecu, about 9k in it, maybe another 2200 in fuel pump, lines, fittings, intake tubing, and exhaust, 1800 in the clutch and flywheel, so it adds up quick, my build is a bit of an overkill as I had planned to use nitrous I will later. You could probably squeeze 4-440rwhp maybe more with a lot less money, but I only wanted to build a motor once. and now I'm pulling the trans out to get it built so the high power cars always demand money.

look for a used lq9 ,and consider porting the heads .the right cam ,and a fast intake will get you 450+ rwhp.check out Texas Speed to get a idea of what engines can cost new .

If you want 500-600 hp easy solution...Turbo a stock 5.3. Way less then building a big cube motor and in the end it'll probably smoke the **** out of it. 5.3 motors go for a few hundred bucks and you can get a decent turbo setup for 3-4k.

Definitely be more street friendly also. Leave yourself room to grow and if you get bored just turn the boost up.

You'll be looking at $4-5000 doing a budget engine swap with a stock 5.3 or 6.0 truck motor and that leaves you reusing your Monte's stock trans, I've been looking to do a swap on my 86 SS and it isn't as cheap and easy as they make it seem in the magazines or on TV.
