*NEW* Concept Trans am
I know GM made the concept for the new Camaro, but what about trans am?? Did they forget about the birds or are they still designing? Also Im curious to see what exactly they put in that camaro under the hood?

Actually go to my thread and youll get all the update. But with the GTO taking its place I dont think thats true at all. I think people just think that because right once F-bodies were gone the GTO happened to pop up, but thats my opinion im not really sure.

There is no GM concept Camaro. There are
drawings the people have made but there is
ZERO talk from GM about a new Camaro.
Everything you have read or heard is speculation.
It was been implied that the Camaro will be back but
the firebrid won't. Politics are involved with the
building contracts and the earliest you will see a new
one is 2008.
The GTO was rushed to market to fill the void.
That's why is going to be totally redesigned in
a year or 2(if it isn't killed due to poor sales)
and built in US or Canada not Australia.

i did see a pic of new concept camaro, but it could have easily been a drawing. and as far as the gto's go, they suck. How the hell re you going to try and replace a TRANS AM RAM AIR? I had a 2001 ram air(R.I.P.) and nothin could ever take place of that. I hope they do come back out with a trans am. i will be at the dealership when they get there.lol

yeah well you're better off finding you a nice late model one with low miles. Honestly I do hope that they bring them back, much improved though with a nice build quality as say a C5...mmmm hydroformed rails would be so nice instead of sub frames LOL

Also cross your fingers that the GTO does better this summer, and in the next two years, otherwise it might give GM cold feet in committing big money to completely designing an all new Camaro or other planned performance vehicles if they find there's no market for them. That would be a real travesty.

I can't see GM maintaing a good business with only the C6. They need a cheaper sports car to fill the gap! The SRT-4, Evo, and STI's are getting the customers that the FBody would have had (I know thats a huge overstatement but work with me for now).

The dealer buy me had a markup on them when they first came out, now he has 8 of them and can't sell them for sticker. Walking through the lot noticed that the grand prix was 1000 more than the gto with people looking at the grand prix. Why the hell would you take a 6 insted of a 8 for the same cash, and the goat definatly is cooler.

you guys have to remember something, we are not normal people!!! We buy cars for the RIGHT reasons. The general public is STUPID. They will buy whatever they are told to buy. I for one think that GM needs to get off thier asses and do something to promote the GTO. Ford is constantly shoving the 'stang down everyones throat. The F-Body is dead because GM cut almost all marketing on it after '98. All the kids are buying imports because there were 2 MOVIES made about them, and we all know kids buy into whatever they see in the movies.

GM can't really afford to push the GTO that much this year because 1) 18,000 (or less) cars doesn't justify a nationwide advertising campaign (it takes like 50 - 60,000 minimum to justify the cost) and 2) they'd be even worse off if they had everybody on the road wanting to buy one and can't supply that many.
And the movie / commercial for the GTO is on USA next week - The Last Ride w/ Dennis Hopper and the new goat!

the point is, they will never build a customer base doing things like they are.
Nice that a goat will be in a movie, but who is gonna see it on USA?
