They are the doohickeys where your spark plug wires attach. One end on the plug, the other on the coil pack.

In distributorless ignition systems, they replaced the old cap and rotor. It's GM's way of attemting to repay us for that f$%^ ing optispark. Based on commands from the PCM, they provide the energy for the spark plugs to fire.
Most newer vehicles will have them instead of rotors most likely due to reliability, lower maintence costs, etc..

The are located on your valve covers. They produce spark to you spark plugs. A new version of a distributor.

Thanks guys, thats what I was thinking too but I wasnt possitive. So far I have the driver side manifold off but the passenger side is a total bitch. All but 2 bolts have been removed from it, and I'm struggling with the last two. Any Ideas or advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for the help fellas.

What do you mean?

The O2 sensors are in the exhaust tubing, not on the engine.
If you are looking for them, look for a connector going into a device stuck in the side of the exhuast pipe. There are 4 of them. One in front of each cat and one behind each cat.

Do I remove them from the car or just the pipe?

The dip stick is in the way of one of the header bolts, how do I get it out of the way?

A 1" or 1.5" extension will help you tremendously when working around the headers.

Additionally, you will need to remove the oil dipstick tube by removing the bolt at the top and then unseating the tube from the oil pan. You will have to give it a pretty good tug to get it out, but it is just kind of "snapped" into a hole in the oil pan with a rubber o-ring.

For the front O2 sensors (before the cats) you will need to unbolt them from the exhaust and just place them out of the way for reinstallation into the new header. For the rear O2 sensors, if you are using high-flow cats in your new exhaust, you can reuse the rear sensors. If you are removing the cats (off-road y-pipe) , then you will need to replace the rear O2 sensors with O2 simulators and then zip-tied up out of the way. Then you can save the rear O2 sensors to replace the front pair when they start to foul out.

4 beers later it finally comes out . I'm in the process of installing my Kooks LTs finally and it was stuck on my passenger exhaust manifold (I come ask a question everytime I hit a tough spot). I got it out though and now the car is ready for the install. Unfortunatly I have to work tonight so it will have to wait until tomarrow . Thanks for all the help so far guys.

Strictly from what I have heard(may be total BS) but
NGK55 at some point became factory but use the ACdelco
name. I don't know how much I believe that considering
GM says stock plugs are good for 100K(that's another agruement)
