Here's a little turbo 346 to give you an idea of forced induction potential.

Uh, Rob Raymer Put well over 700hp to the ground with his most recent turbo project. That was done with stock pistons and rods. He had over 125 dyno runs on the car, and when it made it to the track i think it went bottom 11's at like 135 mph on the stock 10 bolt rear.

But you're right, a stock long block LS1 won't hold up to that kind of power.

Also, for less than 4 grand in mods, you can have 600+ hp to the ground on an 03 Cobra.. Kenne Bell Blowzilla kit and catback..

FYI, yes I had an LS1.. in a 98 Vette
I'll join the ongoing online banter.
Let's say you can put 600hp to the ground for $4k. Look at it this way: What happens if you put the supposed $4k in mods Cobra with 600 rwhp against, say, an LS1 A4 F-body with bolts-ons (including stall), cam, and nitrous (so both have a power adder)?? That should be in the same ballpark for price spent on mods to make the power, and both cars should need upgraded tires, rear end, etc to handle it. What happens then? Can an otherwise stock powered cobra with the "blowzilla" and a cat-back(WTF name is that??? that's about as stupid as the T-Rex cam ) run low/mid 10's?

Edit: For $4k, you could get:
Self installed cam/springs/pushrods/Spring seats/titanium retainers: $700
Lid/CAI/UD pullies/ported TB: ~$550
Converter/shift kit/cooler:$750
Full exhaust: ~$1,000
Wet shot nitrous: ~1,000
Prof. full dyno tune: $450
Add those up: $4,000-$4,500
What does that give you? A very fast car!
*Note: i am excluding getting into this too far. will not look at suspension/rear end/tires etc they should be realtively equal b/t the two cars, right?

Go search the FI section. The vid is there, its a pretty funny one too. Rob's formula is kicking up dust half way down the track....track prep was minimal, at best. Did i mention that he managed over 700 RWHP on a 125K mile stock short block.

I cant believe people can argue about this for so long.....this should be a simple concept. you pull up next to another car and race, whoever is faster wins, period, no excuses. Only losers make excuses. The argument of, but your car was like 10k more than mine and if I had 10k in my car, i would win is pointless. the fact is, you dont have 10k in your car and you didnt win. All this bickering makes my head hurt. Time to go kill this pain with a beer.

You should worry about Z06's because you're no faster than a stock one with only 460rwhp.

edit: You'll be lucky to make 445rwhp with those mods too.

LOL@the guy saying "i dont worry about z06's much less T/A's".....as a few others have eluded to already, he already forgot a couple "minor" details...
1. HP does not mean **** if your car is too heavy to put it to use...its all a HP/weight ratio issue
2. for the amount of money one would spend on an '03 cobra, think of how fast someone could get an LS1 rolling. i bought my ws6 for $14K(paid off)....hmmm, how much HP could i get for the $16K i saved?

Yup, faster than a stock Z which has what 405 - maybe little more at the crank ? 350 at the wheels ? Let's correct for weight - add 50 rwhp = 400rwhp. Anyway, the street doesn't lie.

I guess I am lucky - dyno'd 449rwhp yesterday with an EXTREMELY conservative tune - A/F was in the 10.0 range across the board - ran out of time to dial it in. Going back to bring A/F in the 11.5-12.0- tuner is confident can add 12-15rwhp.

You won't even run a 12.0.

...and it's the TRACK that doesn't lie.

You're impressing no one with your "power".
