Default Next Mods help

I'm new to the LS1 world and am looking for some opinions on what my next mods should be. Car will not be driven for the winter and will be in my garage. I'm planning on swapping the AC plugs with NGK TR6's and some MSD wires. See my signature and let me know what I should do next. I thought about changing the 3.42 gears to 3.73 but am not sure if it's worth it. I do plan on doing some bolt in subframe connectors over the winter. Suggestions? Thank you!

What will you be doing with the car?

If you're not taking the car to a track you would be better off with NGK TR6IX or ACDelco 41-104 plugs as they are the same heat range and iridium so you won't have to suffer through changing them out for a long time.

Yes. Previous owner had it tuned a few years ago. It hasn’t been driven much. I was going to have it returned in the spring. Doesn’t like to idle when cold. Previous owner said he purposely had the idle set low to really heat and feel the cam. Runs like a beast when warm.

Honestly I'd go straight to a 3.90 or 4.10 gear on a M6 or not do it at all. And at that point a good of heads would really liven it up

most M6 guys prefer the 4.10 gears.

I was under the impression that without full HCI, the TR-55 would be the better choice in plugs. Meaning between the TR55 and TR6. This is more of a question than my personal opinion on plugs, or what the OP should choose. Many posts over the years seemed to lean this way. It's my curiosity as well.

Do 4.10’s create any driveability issues? Increase risk to factory rear end?

i considered the TR-55’s but most who have reviewed my mod list recommended the TR6’s. I have been reluctant to use anything other than AC Delco plugs. On my old 5.3 vortec, anything other than AC’s and it ran like crap.

4.10 for sure. Yes, they are technically weaker than smaller gears. If you're running street tires not as much of a worry vs slicks at the track, you know? Sounds like you're ready for heads next. I'd do that before re-tuning if the budget allows.

Thanks. The 3.42’s definitely feel like a weak link at this point. I run Nitto drag radials but it’s a Street / car show cruising car. Maybe I’ll run it at the track someday. Last dyno tune was 386 HP at rear wheels.

Heads will certainly be on the future to do list but not in the budget right now.

I run 4.10's with the M6, and especially with the extended rrpm range from the cam, its the perfect gear IMO

Ok thank you. 4.10’s are sounding like a go. I noticed with the 3.42’s, 6th gear is useless unless at highway speeds and it bogs when starting out in 2nd gear.

Yep and especially with that cam, those 4.10's will be a great compliment. At 75 mph I'm still only at 2000 rpm in 6th. And yes 6th gear becomes much more usable. No need to downshift when passing

Gears definately wake the car up everywhere. I would skip the sfcs and focus on a set of koni yellows if your looking for better handling. They are expensive but a fantastic setup for comfort and handling even with lowering springs. I had sfcs and hated how the car handled with them, i cut the ******* out.

Is an intake and throttle body swap worthwhile with my combo? Been looking at the LS6 intakes or aftermarket with 102mm TB...

An LS6 intake would be a nice bang for the buck on your setup
