Default Front end shakes at high speeds and light breaking...

When I'm at highway speeds and apply the breaks the front end shimmies and shakes. Is this from breaks, allignment, or wheel balance, (or something else)

BTW, my car is a 99 SS with 32,000 miles. Only had it for 2 weeks as of today.

replace the stock with slotted rotors and Hawke Pads, good investment. I did it to both my Firebirds and no more warping...

Well, it looks like my first "Mod" is going to be new rotors instead of something for more horsepower. What brands/types would some of you recommend?

thanks

Go to Autozone and get they Aimco (I think) rotors for only $38 each. They are a great piece and very sturdy. Or you can get drilled/slotted ones for a lot more. iRotors, Baer, Powerslot, are all good companies.

I have the pads and rotors from Wholesale Direct on all 4 corners and haven't had a bit of problems with them yet and I think they are still on sale. Look in the Group Purchase and Sponsor section.

Feh, save the money on slotted and drilled. Rotor mass is what is what prevents head build-up, fade, and long-term warping. Spend $60 on your rotors and $100 on the pads, not vice versa. I second the nod to Hawk pads for street use. HPS dust less than HP Plus, but the HP + perform better.

$0.02

go for some brembo blank OEM replacements....they work rather well...and some Hawk pads. Great combo.
