Default Stock Shifter Stick Question

Ok, my stock Hurst shift stick has started to rotate freely, and if you yank on it you can pull it out. There isn't any danger of my pulling it out in normal driving, but it is a little funky to feel the shifter twist a bit when you're driving.

I've got a friend at a dealership who looked at it and according to them the sticks come with a rubber grommet at the bottom end of them that keeps them from rototating/locks them in place. This thing has apparently worn down or broken off which is why it can now move.

Anyway, I'd somewhat looked into the LSS before and figure this might be a good time to do it, since I'd probably pay MORE just to replace the factory version. But from what I've read before(could be wrong) was that the reason the LSS was shorter than the factory one was BECAUSE it didn't have the rubber peice? Is that correct? And it that's true would that stick then rotate too?

Are there any other short sticks out there other than the LSS? Will that work with my Hurst know? How easy of an install is it?

The install is cake, 2 bolts, they are shorter cause that's the point and it won't rotate cause it's bolted right to the shifter w/ out any runner. BTW if you want a stock Hurst stick for cheap, lemme know.

The LSS doesn't have any rubber piece on it, but it is considerably shorter than the stock, regardless of that. I have one on a stock Hurst and I love it. I'm a total idiot with tools, but it took me about 15 minutes to change the whole thing out.

I mounted mine "backwards" with the Hurst shifter, because it's more comfortable for me that way. It made a world of difference. Throws are much tighter and more secure, and I never miss now.

I second that. I put the Lou's short stick on my factury Hurst also. It makes a world of difference.

LSS on the factory Hurst is a great combo.

You can put it on the pro 5.0, but you just have to order a different version I believe.

yeah mine did the same you could pull the shifter out, the lss mounts direct to the hurst shifter instead of having that rubber thing on there. i used to miss 3rd all the time, now im surprised when i miss it.

You can put it on the pro5.0 tower shifter. No different version.. Afterthoughtsautos just sells the pro5.0 and LSS as a kit, instead of having to buy them both and wasting a shifter stick/money.

Pro5.0 + LSS is an awesome combo

What is the actual benefit of the Pro 5.0 over a factory Hurst shifter. I mean I understand the shorter stick because of the shorter throw. But what does getting a new shifter itself help you with. Are they more sturdy? As in less change of breakng stuff with one, which would be why I'd buy one.

I don't miss shifts right now with my stock hurst so would the whole new pro 5.0 setup be a waste. Should I just go with the LSS to get rid of the rubbery feeling.....?
