Default Need some tips

I’ve used this website for a lot of stuff however I just made an account and this is my first post. I have a 1998 trans am with ls1 and automatic 4speed. Mods I have are the slp lid, longtube headers, 3in true duals, and I’m lookin to get it tuned in a month or asap. I was hoping someone could lead me in the direction of what things I should get done next. this is my Daily driver so I’m not looking for anything crazy. just something to run at the drag strip against newer v8 muscle cars. thanks

It all comes down to money. You can do a thousand things or 1 thing depending on how empty your wallet is. Cheap way to go faster is to reduce weight. Next easiest is to have a dedicated set of drag wheels/tires for track days. Beyond that you need a real plan and budget.

i should have dedicated drag tires and wheels by end of the year. My wallet definitely isn’t full lol so idk about a thousand things. just some simple performance mods to start with like maybe fuel pump, injectors, intake manifold ? I want the most bang for my buck, but who doesn’t ?😂

Fuel Pump - Won't gain you any power.
Injectors - Won't gain you any power.
Intake Manifold - LS6 will gain about 15+ hp ($300 - $500) /// Fast 102 gain 25 - 35+ hp ($1800+ or - )
Underdrive Pulley - a smaller % pulley will get you about 8 hp ($200 - $300)

I would get a mild higher stall torque converter or nitrous.(these two are the most bang for your buck - IMO)
And a good set of tires.

are you thinking like 3000-3500 rpm? do you think the stock rear axle could be able to take that load off the line ?

Being an auto with your mods the stock 10 bolt should be okay for some time, unless you beat the holy hell out of it

Stall, tires, and a tune would do wonders for not a lot of $$
