Default Suspension help

I have a 2000 WS6. Previous owner said car was lowered 2 inches. The ride quality is terrible. I don't know what shocks or springs are currently on the car. Can anyone tell by the pictures? I know I need bump stops. I have been looking into buying new springs and shocks. Any recommendations for a good setup that can handle bumpy Washington roads. Car is a weekend driver and occasionally driven to work.

I would change all that out to BMR or Strano springs and Koni STRT shocks... very good budget setup..

looks like Stagg shocks (pure garbage) and Eibach springs (garbage as well)

Thank you for the reply. I have been looking at the strano and koni strt setup, but didnt want to commit until I had a better idea of what was on the car. From reading through the forum it seems like it would be a nice upgrade.

If you're willing to role at stock ride height, there is plenty you can do. Stock springs with bilstein or koni str.t will give the best ride quality. What size wheels and tires are you running? Are your bushing rotted away? Get the car up in the air and check them all, along with the ball joints and tie rod ends.

I’m finishing up my koni strt and bmr swap tonight. It had Hotchkis and stock shocks and road like garbage.

I wouldn't mind having stock ride height, but my wheels are massive and my car would look like a 4x4 TA. It has 275 35 20 on rear and fronts are 255 35 20. I need to get under it again to check bushings. In general when I switch out springs and shocks are there any other parts I will need?

Tires are a critical suspension component with regard to handling grip, and ride quality. With wheels that large you haven't got much side wall regardless of what spring and shocks you run, to get a comfortable ride, by my standards anyway. They are also heavy which means the wheels are contributing to impact harshness rather than softening the blow.

Ride quality is subjective, as you've seen by various comments about what things you should run. Frankly, I'd run 18" wheels at most, and if it were a daily driver 17s or even 16s. The increased side wall of those wheels helps absorb impacts. The lighter weight of the wheels, stock springs, and decent shocks in combination will yield a significantly better ride, and lowers the risk of a bent rim.

You can try just adding a decent set of springs (strano) and shocks (koni srt.t's), along with ensuring bushings are good, and see if that helps.

Those wheel need to go ASAP, 20s will ride horrible on these cars (and for the most part look horrible). Get some 17s or 18s with 275s (or wider) all around.

Thank you for the input. Keeping in mind I should change out wheels and suspension. Should I do springs and shocks first or wheels first?

Replace springs and shocks first, try it out. Then do the wheels and tires if it's still too harsh, my guess is it will be. You could replace the wheels at the same time if you know you're going to part with the 20's anyway.

I bought a similar hack job from a 24 year old kid. Had 19" C6 rims with huge tires and a 1" spacer in front and a 1.25" spacer in the back, which screwed every wheel bearing in the car including the outer axle bearings. Had horrible lowering springs in that i couldnt even figure out who made them other than they were blue, they were a straight action spring, not a progressive, didnt have the extra coil on the top. Had old tire sidewall as lower spring cushion in the rear, and my bump stops looked like your pictures..... .

New BMR lowering springs, New KYB AGX Adjustable rear shocks & front struts, all new energy suspension bushings front and rear including sway bars, wheel bearings, new rear outer axle bearings, lower ball joints and outer tie rod ends, new 18x9.5's rims all around with the Nitto NT05 @ 275/35R18s...and it rolls like a champ...now i just have to fix the aluminum driveshaft shake ... and now apparently rebuild the lower end (look for my other post, sigh) and I will be good.

So long story short, start at the front and move to the rear as your budget allows...everything you fix will make a difference.....and new is obviously better than the worn parts you have so buy what your budget can afford.
