Default Ls1 throttle cable.

This is an old topic and all the answers from all those years ago do not seem applicable to the same scenario now. Project is my 2000 trans am, I have been slaving away cleaning up the engine bay tucking re-routing deleting etc..... I deleted my tcs and cruise looking to rid all those cables for a solution for a throttle cable directly from pedal to tb. I’ve heard a throttle cable from a 98-99 non tcs and cruise will work and that would be great but local dealers are telling me discontinued. Anyone have other suggestions as far as what could be used I’ve looked over the universal throttle cables in parts stores and online but nothing looks as if it will work- different ends etc. anyone have information as far as length or part numbers or pics for how you did it?

Thanks Jim tick has exactly what I need but yeah $200 dollars was a little excessive for me I don’t mind spending the money and if that comes down to what I have to do then I will. That link you sent seems to have exact ends I need just needs a little more length but I will definitely check out the rest of jegs inventory. I have only searched summits bc they are 20 minutes down the road from me. Thanks again!!!

I actually broke a throttle cable at the track last season and found the same problem with availability and price. I replaced it with a Lokar cable.

Do you have the loose part# you used. Did it have same ends and length or cut to fit?

Just an update I went to buy a roller as a donor car to rob parts to complete another build I have going on and low and behold it was a non tcs car with the throttle cable I need. But holy crap I didn’t expect the car as a donor to be 9/10 almost immaculate! With exception of very small body work and busted windshield I’m now looking for motor and trans to finish this one instead. If financially it makes

Correct oem non tcs throttle cable

sence to put it back together I will if not I will continue my original plan to take parts I need and part the rest if there is any interest on parts I have let me know

You have what I originally needed Jim. If I run across a good deal on a motor and trans I’m probably going to fix the roller meaning I will still need a throttle cable. So I may probably be interested in your if you do sell it

Amazing find as long as you didn't pay much for it!

Well rev I scored it for $1400 so I think I’m probably ok. But like I said I bought it for just a doner car but wasn’t expecting it to be so complete and clean. I actually posted a thred on the car asking for opinions that financially is it worth trying to find motor and trans and fixing the few dents or use what I need and part the rest. What you think? I’m 1400 in it now.

I think you are definitely making money either way.. If I could pick one up in that condition for 1400 I would and keep it for parts for sure.. as you saw with the throttle cable there are a lot of discontinued parts on these cars... you have a good dash and looks like lots of good interior parts not to mention all the body parts if you scratch something on yours

Yes sir. I’ve parted one out before that was almost as nice as this one. I started to fix the last one up but discovered it had a salvage title witch kills value so it went toward fixing other trans ams up. I’m torn about parting this one bc it’s really clean but just got the instrument cluster to power up with almost 200k miles so I don’t think it’s worth the investment to fix this one either. Exactly as you said I’ll hold on to it for what I may need and part the rest.

It depends on your skill level and available time, but to me that one is worth keeping alive. My DD Formula has 185k and is still going strong. Granted, recouping your investment might be tough. But with a good 5.3 & 4L60e and some cosmetics you might be into it 4-6k and have a pretty nice car.

Jim, if your willing to ship the throttle cable to Texas and boosted doesn't need it I would happily buy it off you for 75$ plus shipping. Thanks, Chris
