Ditto.
The CATS will make a rotten egg smell. I just had the same at 30k and the dealership replaced the driver side CAT under warranty.
This is also true with an older Sunbird I had.
I first heard this from a family friend that owns a used car shop and has been working on cars for 2 decades. It has held trued for going on a decade.

its funny that this question came up, because about a week ago(just before i had my cats replaced) i got on it to pass one of my friends. shortly after passing him i get a call on my cell, its my friend calling to say that my exhaust smelled like a dirty diaper. 2 days later i had my clogged cats replaced so as a test i got on it past him again. aside from having more power the horrible oder i gone. Are you pulling a code? mine threw code PO430 when the cat went bad.

Another thing, if the car is under 80000 miles, the cats are under manufacture warranty due to fed regulations. See the dealer and they have to check it out and replace at no charge to you. Only thing that sucks is they try to replace only one, that will cause the pcm to trip a code if they do that. PCM will see the different flow rates of the cats if they only replace one.
