LOUDER. I'll put it this way, my stock engine with open Jet-Hot Longtube headers was louder to me than any motorcycle (think harley with loud pipes here) I have every heard. Open headers are VERY loud. My WOT tunnel pass literally hurt my ears. I have no doubt you could hear me from one mile away.....with ease at timse.

My Grot y-pipe didn't originally mate to his headers, so I drove home with my 2-year old daughter sleeping in the car with open headers. That was about a 45 minute drive. The following day I had to take her to Mom's place. Mom said she could hear my car for a MUCH longer time before I showed up on her doorstep, compared to stock manifolds with a cutout.

On the way home I had a Mustang come up next to me, but the car wasn't really all that responsive in that condition. I was very paranoid about being pulled over so I didn't really do anything except idle everywhere until the y-pipe was fixed.

How does the volume of dual cutouts (like the QTP y-pipe with dual dumps) compare to open headers?

yeah I did it on my motor install... it was sick... sounds like your car has a huge cam in it... even when it is stock. Lovely and addicting sound.
