Default Ok, Need Help w/ a SVT Cobra

Ok so the story goes this guy I work with traded in his nice Corvette (early seventies) for this '04 SVT Cobra Convertible. Prior to him doing this we would always talk about LS1's and stuff and he would tell me that his 'vette would run with 'em through abou 60-70 but after that he would fall off. He also used to go on about the fact that I should be able to pull on most Mustangs.

Fast forward: We were at a golf outing this Wednesday and we were talking about our rides and he goes on to tell me that he kept up with some cars at the WDC this past week that had 671 blowers!? To further this disscussion he says that he is pretty sure he would run in the 10's stock??? So this prompts one last discussion: He said that him and a few of his buds are possibly planning a Saturday trip to the local track (local for them, not me) and asked if I would be interested. I told him sure 'cause I would like to see how I'd do against him and to keep me posted.

Can someone point me in the direction of the numbers on these cars, and should I be worried??? I don't want to let any F-body guys down.

10's in a stock 04' Cobra CONVERTIBLE. No way! I would guess from 12.8 to 13.5 depending on conditions and a low elevation.

But, I know you will get plenty of info here.

Agreed. 10's is outrageous, I wouldn't have been able to keep my composure if he told me that.

first let's talk about your bold vanity plates on a heavy *** convertible with like 2 mods that really does something (that's not very significant at that)

10's out of a stock cobra...nope not happening. I have seen some run tens, with whipple blowers or Kenne Bell's....that have way more mods than just the blowers. I am going to say that he will make a rousing pass of 13.3 all night long, and get worse as the car heats up more and more. If he thinks that his car is 10's fast, then he has never had much track experience and is just dumb enough to think that all F-bodys are slow. Unit 213 will definately back me up here, since we are both veterans from SVTP. I will say that if you can drive that car of yours for everything it is worth then you will beat him. Beware though because those DOHC motors love top end, and have been known to pull a win light on a car that has been beating them all the way down the track. Good thing for you is his car weighs around 3800 lbs being a vert, and for the most part if he has only done an exhust or intake then he will still be pushing 360 or maybe less to the wheels.

Cortez I got your PM, and thought that I would just post the link to the site everyone can see what a 10 sec Cobra looks like.

http://www.strictlypro.com/atthetrack.htm

There is a video of a guy that just put a Whipple on his Cobra that ran 10.99...and I will see if I can track it down and post up both his vid and his mods, but he does have a chunk load of mods.

Here is a fairly average run for a modded Cobra.

lol... I was thinking the same thing. I'm not about to write a check my engine can't cash with a bold claim on my license plate. He'd get spanked by many 5 liters.

In the 10s stock??? Out of an SVT Cobra convertible??? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

This guy has no clue what it means to run in the tens. He obviously has no track experience whatsoever.

Once at the beginning of the season. I had a few friendly runs with an Iroc on the way over on the freeqway and only got one run on the track before I had to go for a dinner party.

It is a nice track and hope to get out there again before it is too late this year.

Here in texas my stock cobra ran a 12.9 at RCR in San Antonio and mine is not a vert. That will give you an idea at what they run.
