The day i picked up my ws-6. was the first time i ever drove a manual. on the way home we stopped at my freinds exhuast shop and did exhuast descreened maf filter and ram air mod.
Stock is for daily drivers mods are for racers.

thats right! ive seen quite a few of the evos and a few of the stis and the best ive ever seen one run was a 13.9. most of the time 14.2-14.5. 69_yenko got to race the same evo on the street and at the track. beat it both times. and dont go and pull the "no drivers card" on this one. that guy was launching that car badass. i thought stu was gonna get his *** handed to him. but he beat him both times. and stus best time of the night was a 14.001. and thats with old hard bald tires, TWO clogged cats, and a broken tranny mount. hindsight is 20/20, so dont ask why he was racing like that. simple answer- we didnt know.

Usually the ONLY Gt's that want to play with me are pretty loud and I guess modded. The Gt's which appear stock usually won't line up next to me at the light. The few that did got SPANKED! I think you hit it right on the money when you said," looked at your GT and thought you weren't even worth it. :barf "

After a while, I lost interest in spanking the GT and now I look for the Cobra's. I figure that if I get spanked by enough Cobra's it will help motivate me to work harder and save up for the VORTECH so I can humiliate their *** too...

I assume you mean the non-turbo ones or at least the FWD turbo ones. Stock vs stock an LS1 will even outrun the AWD version. However, at last count there were only 3 remaining stock AWD Talons left worldwide. Also, there are quite a few on that list that it would come down to a driver's race.

M3: 3415lbs and 333hp = 10.26lbs/hp
M5: 4024lbs and 394hp = 10.21lbs/hp

Wow, those power to weight ratios sure are pretty similar. But I guess that 0.05lb/hp advantage the M5 has makes all the difference in the world. Luxury and comfort wise the M5 is way ahead, 1/4 times are going to be damn close.

Quit magazine racing. That's like taking my LS1 and saying it's got 305 hp stock so it should lose to the 320 horse 99/01 Cobra. Why don't you get a reliable quote on the real world 1/4 time of those two??????

Not that the newer M3 is slow, it is by no means a slouch and can pull low 13's, but the M5 is capable of 12's when driven properly.

That is true, but the M3 has no power at all below 5000 rpm, while the M5 has a great powerband similar to the LS6/LS1.

Right. The M5 has torque! The M3 has variable cam technology i believe and it makes a lot of top end but it's small and doesn't have a lot of torque. The M3 is by no means slow, again, but the M5 is by all means a small step above it.
I want to set this straight: A stock M3 is fully capable of taking a stock LS1. What I was saying is that in my current state the M3 would not worry me but if I didn't do it right the M5 could sneak by me. Since this thread was about a stock LS1, both of them are a real threat.

The M3 also has freakin SIX throttle bodies

The engine is a work of art, as is driving one. I have also driven them both. The M5 is easily the fastest car I have ever driven, the M3 is more like a very fast high revving engine. FYI, the M3 has like 250 lbs of torque. The M5 has like 360.

Its been 2-3 years, but 2.1 60' on firehawks, and mph was almost always in the 105-106 range powershifting.

Please, my stock WRX, non-STi, ran a 13.9 @ 94 mph, those guys must drive like school bus drivers or something. There are plenty of STis running high 12s stock. Its all driver anyway.

Even all of the STI owners were saying how much an LS1 would kill it from a roll.

E/T means very little. Trap speed shows which car is faster.

Oh, and we do know that those guys who run the high 13's in STi's are not launching, but that is what you should expect from the street. We are doing stock vs. stock here.

dude what you should us is that some lunatic is willing to wind his AWD car up to 6000 rpms and dump the clutch (he wont be doing many of those) on a sticky track to pull a 1.6 60'
i dont see many rexes on the street that 6k clutch dump on the street at a stop light.

Dude, please don't start saying that ET means very little and we should all be going off trap speed. ANY real race is decide by ET. He who gets to there first wins, not he who is going faster at the finish.

To see which car is "faster" you know just as well as I do that trap speed says which car is putting more power done and is "faster".

Which car is "faster"?

A car that runs a 12.9 at 103 or a car that runs a 13.0 at 115?

I do agree with you about the real race part. I do like racing from a roll, though. Just not against those cars that run 13.0's at 115.

around here you cant even get an evo or wrx to run you (street or track) unless they have modded the crap out of it other then that they are like all the other 4 banger drivers they are all on the gas until a real car pulls up beside them then they act like they dropped something on the floor board or acting like they gotta make a call on their cell so they dont have to look over at the LS1 driver whos grinning ear to ear
