Default What would YOU do?

I have a 98 trans am with 3.23's, stock tranny, headers, lid/filter,taylor wires, stock 16' chrome rims and thats about it. My car has 100,000 miles on it and I had thought about getting a converter but Im afraid my stock tranny might be getting to old to handle it. I also thought of putting 3.73's in but heard it was a hard install for just a little bit of gain unless I got a verter. I would like to shine up the motor but I don't really have the experience and couldnt pay anyone. Maybe paint the valve covers? I would like new 18X10.5 c5 replicas but too much $$$ for me now, ASP pulley? Converter? Gears? So what would you guys do next. Keep in mind I dont have the money for forced induction or anything, and I dont want nos. Pure muscle

Converter would do alot of good, not sure how the tranny will hold up. Not wanting to hijack your thread but I wanted to ask jammon46 where you are located in Oklahoma. I live in the Stillwater area.

Auto = TC FIRST

Cleaning up the engine bay is really easy. All it takes is a little bit of cash, $40 tops for a some spray paint and stuff to do the initial cleaning.
- " Every little bit helps "

Also, keep searching for deals on C5 wheels. I got my OEM Y2ks for $800 w/ tires. You just gotta keep your eyes open for deals.

another thread hijacker here,
i have been debating on a converter,but am unsure. how streetable are they really? and what would be the best to run on the street for a DD? given: every 3-5 weeks i make a road trip of about 4 hrs. ii know they "lock up" at highway speeds,but is that kind of driving good for it? experiences/suggestions are appreciated

Sounds awesome and what I would do (except I would get the 3000 TCI).
As for shift kit I would go with Trans Go.

I think you will get allot of different opinions here especially if you ever plan on doing a cam or head work. But if it is basically stock and you want a relatively stock feel (which is what I am shooting for) try 2800 to 3200 stall or if more aggressive the 3500 street fighter. And, you will get info that Yanks vertors are ussually a higher stall then advertised (???).

Here is a good link link to help decide on a convertor:
