Default I think i may have a tranny problem

the guys in the tanny section wont answer so here it is:

My car when first purchased would second gear scratch under wot anytime of the day. Now it no longer does this. It shifts nicely, and there is no noise coming from the tranny, but It obviously doesnt shift into second under wot as it used to. Does anyone know what might be wrong? Are my clutches going bad? Has anyone had a similar experience?

If i should get a rebuild kit, what is a good one to get? Please help me if you can, I am like a father when it comes to my car, and I hate to see somethin wrong with my baby.

When did you get it? Are you running the same tirs? How much tread have you worn off since then? Was it colder outside (you make more power in cold) when you got it?

Try flushing and changing the transmition fluid. As above...new/stickier tires? You could always firm up the shifting.

it clunked hard once going into second, never happened again. Now it dosent shift as hard.

It always second gear scratched, cold, hot, asr off or on. I dont know if second gear scratching is normal for an a4, but I hope that nothing is wrong. I am beginning to think my second gear clutches are going bad.

I think i will just get a rebuild kit, and overhaul the tranny when i put a converter on it. that way I only have to remove the tranny once

Could be torque managment doing it. What mods did you have when it was doing it compared to the mods you have now?

Considering his only mod is a lid, I don't think a mod altered it.

Maybe it is getting second gear rubber but your tires are just worn.
If not try flushing tranny if that dosent work - put in a trans go shift kit. Your tranny is probably just getting worn and slipping a little. My tranny was taking about 2 seconds to shift from 2nd to 3rd, after my engine mods - trans go fixed it, at least for now.
