Default Todays project

I was bored today so I took off my throttle body & the 2 aluminum bevels that surround the MAF sensor & polished them. I used 180 then 220 then 320 then 600 then 1000 grit sand paper to smooth them out. Then polished them with rubbing compound & cleaner. The picture doesn’t show much but when it was done it looked like chrome.

^ Nice car. Can I get a closer pic of what all you have going on under that hood? Looks interesting.

It was all done by hand here. If your going to try it start off using the rougher sand paper first like 180 grit. This will cut the roughness & imperfections out of the aluminum. Then I used the 220 to smooth it down then used the 320,600 & 1000 (in that order) to finish the sanding till it was slick. Once it was nice and slick I used rubbing compound & cleaner like the type you buy for paint to finish & make it like chrome.

When sanding just try to keep it continuous all over the area don’t sand in one spot for a long period. I wet sanded it seemed to work the best.

damn that looks nice. now you just have to port the tb i did that over the week, but i have a slight whistle at start up, i think i pushed too much epoxy back near the sensor, i just have to pull it out and drill it out and make sure there are no sharp edges. mine doesn't bling even close to yours tho. gonna have to work on that too lol.
