Default rear hatch lock question

It's more of an annoyance than a problem but whenever I use the remote to unlock the rear hatch it would unlock but the hatch would not be fully released. I'd have to keep pushing the button on the remote until the hatch would actually release. Anyone else have this problem? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

the same thing is happening to me, i pop it, then pull up on the hatch, then pop it again to open it. It doesnt matter weather its the button inside the car or the remote.

maybe something isnt lined up right, i havnt really looked at it.

I replaced my spring with a stronger one instead of adding one piggy-back.

3/4" x 2.5" spring found at Home Depot

The hatch will be a little harder to close for a while, but you wont have any more problems opening it.

I used the same stock spring. I just used some needle nose pliers and wound the latch up the spring about 1 turn. No more problems. Took about 10 minutes to do.

That is more difficult to do and the spring could slip back (probably will).
Well, if it worked for you...then Good Luck.

I did the stronger spring and now my hatch release mechanism is all bent up due to it being harder to shut.

I added a helper spring today and now my hatch pops up no problem. I dont notice it having to be shut any harder than it ever did. Maybe you used to stiff of a spring?

anyways this was a very simple & effective fix!!!

I also have the same problem with both the T/A and the Z. It's the cold weather. Whenever it was warm out, the hatch would open without a problem. Once it starts to get cold however, gotta pop it twice.
