OBD Scan is great. I passed in 03/04 with my WS6 with an ORY, lopey cam, and strong smell of raw fuel. Actually, the inspector couldn't stop talking to me about the car..... he loved it!

you have to have a certain tread depth on your tires to pass inspection. cant get her inspected with baldies, and slicks arent exactly super swampers

good story. I think i will be lazy and just bribe my inspector. Oh wait, as long as i stay in this state, i dont have to worry about inspections. Kansas dosent care much about emmissions.

thats funny, becuase it had to be in IL, and IL is a bunch of bitches in terms of emmissions.

I heard some rumor from my mustang buddies that you can tell the emmissions place that your car is a show car. That you "only" drive it to shows and i guess you can get special dispensation. I guess he knows people who have done it. Also, i guess you dont have to have showcar insurence either, its strictly an emissions only type deal. I guess i'l know for sure sometime in spring when i get my junker running....

i got mine inspected in december, right before i put the exhaust on, that way i'd be covered for at least a year

the best thing to get is a january inspection. like if i got my inspection now, it would say 2006, that way it would LOOK like its good all through 2006, and you would have to wait untill you looked at the punch hole to see if it's out or not. the one thats on it says december 2005 i think im going to let it run out and wait untill january 2006 to get it inspected again, that way it'll "look" good for longer.

IL is actually one of the easiest states to pass inspections in so long as you've got a '96 or up car. No visual, OBD scan only test, two years between tests, first test isn't till your car is 4 model years old. How much easier could you ask for?

Not to mention IL only has testing in the counties surrounding Chicago plus 3 counties downstate near St. Louis. Most of the state doesn't even do testing.

There's no emissions check in this county, do they look at your exhaust system anyway?

If you're worried about having problems, send a PM, I know of a place that should be pretty accommodating

Yes, show car insurance does exempt you from testing in IL. I beleive the insurance companies call the policy an "N10" exemption. IIRC, the car must be at least 10 model years old to qualify though. Lots of restrictions and requirements under that type of policy though. I'd rather find other ways to beat the test, unless of course one actually did have a strict "show car" that was never driven anywhere but to and from professional shows/events.

yah, i rock OBd1 cars,,, so they sniff my **** all the time. I never run cats EVER, let alone a stock car. I always fail, so i sell the car and build another one. haha.

MY rx7 although a 93 will be OBD2,,, but i dont think i wanna emmssions knowing what is actually underneath the hood. Probably more of a hassle than what its worth....
