What's a fair price for this vehicle?

What's a fair price for this vehicle?
I'm still making a serious effort to get behind the wheel of a newer, LS1 F-body in the next few weeks. The third gen is simply not cutting it. I'm not very interested in the TA I posted about in my other thread. The dealer is not returning my phone calls, nobody is ever there, and a daylight inspection revealed wiring harnesses all over the inside of the car. I'll pass. There's another one I discovered locally at a Pontiac dealership, that might be what I'm looking for. It's a GM Certified 2000 TA, with ~19k. I think all TA's come loaded, but this one does have leather, T's, Cd/Eq, power everything, everything I'd be looking for and it's clean inside and out. If it was a WS6 it would be completely perfect. My question is what the experts would consider a fair price? It's really a nice car but I think the price seems a little high. Let me know what your cutoff price would be on that deal before I skew the opinion by giving it away.

you can check KBB.com or NADA.com to give you a starting point.FWIW, the T/A that I bought my wife new in 2000 fully loaded leather, monsoon stereo etc..(non WS- 6) was around 28k.

Wow, I have to say I'm a little surprised at the answers so far. I read the "What are TA's going for?" post and it's obvious the prices vary around the country, but here in New England I have just not seen LS1 TA's lined up at the dealers' for $13-$14k. From the posts I've read people have gotten some awesome deals here, but I just don't see them around here and I've been keeping my eye on the prices for years, and seriously looking for a few months now. Like 87 said- these are $28k automobiles new. Do they really depreciate more than half in the first 20k miles? I have checked NADA and it listed what I'm looking at as $16,875 with typical mileage, and then a $1600 increase for the low mileage.

I wholesale cars also and the f body market in ohio has been very soft for me and $14k retail does not sound out of line to me but remember in a couple of months these cars will pick up $2-3k for the spring market. I have been offered a couple of 02 ws6's w/ 20k or so for $17.5 wholesale but they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. Just an example is that I just sold a 01 z28 vert w/ 31k for $13,100 to a retail customer. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm definitely steering clear of the classifieds though, I'm really not that interested in dealing with a private seller. The car I'm looking at is $16k. While a lot of you gave estimates lower, I do agree that the market is different from place to place, and they aren't getting any cheaper the closer we get to spring. The place is one of those "no dicker sticker" dealerships, but if I can get them to budge at all I should probably bite. It's MRM to boot.

forgot to say that you are not likely to find the price that we are saying at a dealership. and if you did, i would be suspicious of it being a beater. the only way a dealer will budge is if the car has been on their lot for waaaaaaay too long.

I paid 13,500 for my 2000 firebird formula. It is loaded with every option except for traction control. When I went to the bank to get the money the loan officer (who owns a 2001 ws6) told me that was one of the best deals he had ever seen. He had just paid 22500 for his and mine has half the miles (24000 miles on mine 46000 on his).

Sounds like you did your research and got a great bargain.
I think that members when asked 'what a car should go for' will turn that into who paid the least thread sometimes. You are right that pricing varies from place to place and Nada and KBB are both good sources to get an idea as well.
Good luck and congrats!
