Default Loud

My friend just got an electric cut-out on his ws6 trans am to make it LOUD and it sounds awesome...BUT we were leaving denneys last night and another trans am (not a ws6) pulled up next to us, and we all hammered it! his TA was WAY louder and meaner sounding then the cut-out on my friends TA! That **** was LOUD! I have a WS6 TA also and i want mine to sound that loud. i wasnt able to ask him so i ask you...Would you say that its a performance exhaust...or maybe did he just disconnect something for that SUPER LOUD muscle sound. It didnt sound like a performance part! Any help would be awesome! thanx

He might have been running open headers, or dual cutouts in the Y-pipe.

Whatever it was I'm sure he had no cats (ORY or true dual). With most exhaust systems, these cars are dramatically louder without cats. Especially with an exhaust system that's pretty loud to begin with.....

Removing the cats and putting long tubes will help out in the loudness department.

"Will it sounds like ****" is an opinion.

Its not bad for your car

You have to keep in mind though that removing the cats will make passing emissions tests impossibile if your area uses a sniffer test. Most people that remove them either live in areas that don't do testing at all or that have OBD scan test only for '96 and up cars (no tailpipe sniffer). You can pass a '96 and up scan without cats using sims or tuning.....

This link will explain everything you need to know about cats. Hell, just click on some links on that site and you can learn how almost every part of a car works.

And the reason removing your cats makes it louder is because for the most part they are very restrictive.
