LS1s with over 100K miles
As my car nears the 100K mile mark...just wondering what experiences you guys have had with your LS1 once you pile the miles on it. Any drop-off in performace?? I'll finally have the car payed off by summer, at which point it will have 100K on it...I was thinking about putting a pulley on, maybe a couple other things...is it even worth dumping the money into at that point?? Runs perfect right now....knock on wood My master plan is to keep it for another year or two and then hopefully pick up a slightly used LS2 GTO, cause by that time I should be able to afford it. I mean...400hp sounds good to me

Mine has 122k right now and it is still running strong, im planning to rebuild this summer, but im cammin it this coming week along with some other stuff and im not worried about it (knock on wood) Oh yea, and w/105k it put down 316rwhp and 341rwtq w/a lid and exhaust, so i dont think its getting weak yet! oh yea and as far the GTO, im with the other guy, 400hp is nice, but its also coming with a 4000lbs+ car, so its ets would be comparible to a ls1 fbody, unless u just want a dyno queen

mines got 99,200 miles on it right now, i'll take a picture when she gets to 99,999
she still has enough gallop in her giddy-up to blow up the 10 bolt a few weeks back
i hope it lasts till 200k, i'll be satisfied. it had 85k on it when i bought it (march 12th 2004) from a woman, and i seriously doubt she rhomped it very often. after it goes, i'll throw in a forged 408 and about a 200 shot of spunk in the trunk. untill then, i plan on putting a 230+ cam in it with nice springs/retainers/seals/pushrods in it (maby this summer?) and go for at least 400 to the wheels.

This has to be the 10th "over 100k mile LS1 post" that ive posted in...lol
I went 11.4 @119 last season on mine...and that was with my old cam (its had a total of 3)
the 11.4 was on:
stock bottom end, heads, manifold(LS1), fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, rear end, transmission, U-Joints, fully stock suspension

Yeah, maybe this question has been posed before...guess I was just too lazy to do a search on it. Thanks for the advice on the GTO, I guess I'll just have to wait and test drive one when the time comes to see if I like it more than the F-Body. The GTOs seem like such nice overall cars....however there is just something appealing about the F-Body. Guess its just the raw, muscle car aspect of it.

My 99 SS has 104,700 on it. Car runs great, i bought it with 89,000 on it, but i think the person before me that had it got on it a little too much. The 6 speed was shot when i got it, so i had speed inc do a complete t-56 rebuild, so $4100 later the car drives like an animal. I have either been thinking about doing a 348 with all forged internals, and a decent sized turbo setup, or maybe a procharger, but well see. Take it easy

i bought mine with 111k on the clock, and didnt think twice about it. the guy i bought it from used it to commute from Irvine, CA to Del Mar, CA and then moved out to Vegas. he was about 65-70 and even had allllllll the service records, the window stickers, a fill/drain bolt put in the tranny to ease fluid changes and had the rear end fluid changed about a month before he traded it in.
so far all is well. i think it all depends on how well it was taken care of.
