When I first joined this board I didnt really know nothing about the ls1 besides the obvious, but I would read other post and replies and I would post and get replies and so on so on. Some people are smart in one area and some are smart in the other and it all adds up. In about a month youll be up to speed.

Brent...

You don't have to learn anything the 'hard way', in fact you don't need to read a lot of these LS1 related threads to be as "smart" as us.

You may not be aware of this, but the majority of us very knowledgable LS1 folks here on LS1Tech have been taking Vitamin G and M for at least a year now.

I will normally supplement the Vitamins G-M with Vitamins A-B. This of course is available from Anheuser-Busch.

It amazes even me, how smart I have become since taking these suppliments....

I think you'll learn more by reading other folk's experiences with their cars while browsing this site than you could on your own....but it never hurts to dig in and take a chance on your own....I'm glad I did with my car!

Well, personally, I'm dirt-stupid when it comes to the LS1 specifically. I've been working on engines of various sorts since I was 13, though. I started with a little 1cyl. dirt bike, then three wheelers. When I was 15 I moved up to a slant-six AMC Rambler. (Fine ride if ever there was one. Screwed up the radiator and totaled the car. )

When I was 16 I tore into my first V8 on my '78 Trans Am. It's been all up(down) hill from there.

The basics are the basics. Transmissions, gears, otto cycle engines, etc... It's all fairly similar in nature. The only thing I've come across that was drastically different was the Wankel in my Rx7. The details of what makes an LS1 different from the 400 in my '78 Formula or the 400 in my '72 Charger is what I come to this site for. So far I've found no better collection of technical expertise on the subject. When I have a question about how my car will behave in a certain situation, I can ask here and find out.

I wouldn't be surprised to know that lots of people on this board started out the same way.

Of course, it doesn't hurt to take your vitamins.
I know I wouldn't be half as knowledgeable as I am about LS1 cars if I didn't have one I could experiment with.

I started lurking on LS1 related forums back in late 1998. Bought one in '99. And have both learned from others as well as learned from doing it myself. I was mechanically inclined when I started, but I didn't know squat about the LS1. So I have three years now of messing with the car. And I still learn something new every other day. It's a continuous process. Whenever I think about doing something to the car, I'll research it as much as I can before tackling it.
