12.9's?
Is 12.9's a decent time for an 98 SS w/ close to a 100k on the clock with following mods, fipk, mac mid-length headers, hooker cat-back, and a cut-out? Im not sure what the trap was (if anyone has an idea what the trap is for that time let me know) I was just wondering cuz i think im gonna purchase the car and i was wodering is that a good time for the following car cuz i wanna see does it still have a prettly strong motor w/ that many miles.

Elevation can effect times a whole lot. a car that runs 12.9 at sea level is gonna slow down a lot at 4000 feet and vice versa. Depending on the trans and gears I would say it seems about right for an A4 with 2.73's but kinda slow for an M6 with 3.42's or an A4 with the 3.23's.
Also I wouldn't take that time as gospel, driver skill will play a role in track times, especially with a manual trans.

Im not too sure, But the car is in Kansas where i live and the track only opens in the summer time and the first sign of spring so im not too sure. Ill ask the guy when i have a chance. The owner still might have the time slip but i nevered asked him for it but ill see can a get a copy from him.

The price is a little high considering the mileage that is on the car, but he replaced everything that my mechanic pointed it out to him, like front driver side tie-rod, tranny leak (which is new and still under warranty), new pads, rotors, and the 2 front calipers, and also the rear end leak as well. I know it high for a fact but its been takin care of and should last a very long time espeically when i get it. Oh and hes asking $9500 and hes throwing in a MAF for free ( which doesnt matter really) but o well.

All A4 SS's has 3.23 gears. 12.90's sounds right for a '98 with a FIPK and mid lengths. Although some of the factory freak LS1's ran extremely low 13's or 12.90's stock your average LS1 never ran that stock.

my 98 z28 with 3.23's only ran a 13.7 stock. Since a SS has no more go stock, than a z28, I think 13.7 is a relatively good base time for cars like ours. I think a 12.9 is a great time for such a car with only midlengths, fipk, and a cut-out! I'd be happy with that!

Stock for stock, the auto LS1's are dogs compared to the M6 cars. While I was running 8.7's @ 82mph with a 3.73 gear, my friends were running 8.4-8.6's @ 85+mph with their stock M6 cars.
A stall made all that pain go away though.
Stock M6 cars shouldn't EVER run over 13.5 at a decent DA.

I ran a 14.7 with mine .. @ 104mph That was with a flowmaster catback, the best flowing catback on the market
Nittos brought it to a 13.6 though.

The 13.6 with nittos was on a 2.1 60' as well. Traction passed the 60' was cured though
And yes.. slowmaster was put on by the LS1 guro that owned the car before me
It has the proper LT/True Duals now though
