Default 0-2 sensor extensions needed for longtubes???

Long tubes are going in soon, anyone who has installed a set of longtubes no matter what brand for a 00 SS LS1, have you needed 0-2 sensor extensions??? Just asking before so that I don't have any issues or problems on Tuesday and if so, I can order them now.

there are two sets of 02 sensors on the cars, front and back. and you do need the extensions, i guess. i got the extensions and they are very long. i had to tie them down. it seems the 02s were just barely too short as they were.

don't do that. o2 sims are for the REAR o2's if you decide to delete your cats, not the front. Yes with stock o2's you will need extensions. Or you can look into corvette rear 02's.. Won't need an extension.

'Vette rears also have a better chance (though not
100%) of actually working in the cooler header
location. So put the extension money, toward that.

Yes, you'll need the extensions for the two remaining 02 sensors that get relocated to the collector-area of the long-tube headers. The long-tubes and Loud Mouth together do create a lot of rasp. You might consider doing the Dynomouth mod. That's what I ended up doing. Just do a search on the subject as there are lots of threads on it.

doing the "dynomouth" mod is just welding in a dynomax bullet muffler right? if so, i say dont worry too much about it. i have the TSP rumbler catback and they use the dynomax bullet muffler and i get ALOT of rasp. doesnt seem much different than a guy's i know who has the loudmouth with headers. ive actually grown to like it quite a bit.

Bringing back from the dead what length extension did you guys go with, and I am keeping my cats so I need extensions for the rear o2's as well? Just wanted to clarify so I can buy and get the headers on.

Depending on what catted Y you use I guess, if it even has the holes for the rear 02's. my TSP catted Y didnt have bungs for the rear 02's (no biggie) b/c I had already bought sims for the rear ones anyway.

To use your stock 02's...you need 2 extensions for both front 02's. The driver side is far from making it but the passenger side comes fairly close. I would say buy one 24" and one 12" and you would be good. My hookers came with 2 24" extensions and they were way long on the pass. side.

Good luck on your install.

Listen to what jimmyblue said above. Get new Vette rear o2s (Bosch 13111) and use these up front...they have enough wire that you don't need extensions, and you'll have peace of mind knowing you have new o2s. Get the rear o2s tuned out, or you'll have a SES light all the time with the QTP cats. You won't need extensions on the rears, but it won't matter anyway after they're tuned out.

EXACTLY. Look in my Signature. I have had all those F-bodies and this is what i have done and never had a problem. My current SS has these O2s and the rears have been tuned out

Here is what I do..

I re-pin the back O2 Sensor Connectors to be the fronts in the PCM, and plug them in there when I install them in the Headers. Yea it's a little work, but it saves money and it's using what is already there.

I have done this on a few cars. I have my Harness built to where the O2 Connectors come out ontop of the T56, works perfectly.

I kept on melting Extentions, that is why I did it this way.

Autozone and Advance both have them for 73.99 each. (Just got some today myself) Depends on location if there are actually two in stock. I like AZ for the rewards program plus military discount. Adds up to a lot with all the parts I buy!
