Default Auto Insurance...

About how much do you think I should pay on auto insurance for a 1998+ LS1? I'm 18 and have one speeding ticket. Progressive quoted something like 7k a year! Does this sound about right? At this point I think I need to wait until Im 21 or so, which sucks and I dont want to do. What else does everyone else pay?

I'm 22 with a 2001 SS. Full coverage with a $1000 deductable is 600 every 6 months. Full coverage with a $500 deduct is 700 every 6 months. Liability is $250 every 6 months. I opted for the full coverage with $1000 deduct at $600 every 6 months.

good luck with your insurance...sounds pretty damn steep.

Progressive insurance bases its rates in part on your credit score, so if your credit isn't very good, then that could hurt you for Progressive and since you are only 18, it is highly doubtful that you have much credit.

I tried Progressive when I was shopping around. Come to find out they were the highest. I ended up going to Geico. Did it all online.

Hey try allstate and state farm they tend to be the lowest (especially if you have good grades) also check esurance, I am 18 also but have a perfect driving record... My insurance is 624.78 for 6 months with liability and comprehensive w/ 250 deductible. Collision might put it somewhere around 5000 - 5500 maybe a bit more but 7000 sounds WAY high

I pay just under $100 a month for my LS1 and my beater (Saturn). Not bad if you ask me and that's full coverage, it's actually more than I need by my lender.

I was quoted about $2500 every 6 months for full coverage. (Never had a ticket.)

I have only liability of course.

Wow,Geico must be different in Texas.I currently have Grange insurance on my fleet and decided to call Geico after watching one of their goofy commercials on the tube.Their quote was more than triple what I pay now.I own 5 vehicles and 3 trailers so you can only imagine the increase.I was shocked and have come to the conclusion I'm getting a good deal with what I have now.
