Is their a wrong way to install a pulley?
Took my car to a local mechanic shop. I told them to install the SLP Underdrive Pulley and correct belts so they did. I did not give them further instruction. Got the car back and it feels great. I just hope that they installed it correctly. Since their are special instructions on how to install it!
You guys have any problems with that??
thanks!

A search will reveal horror stories involving pulley installations gone awry. The problems are usually caused by not having the proper tools. Using improvised tools can lead to damaging the crankshaft or the pulley coming loose. Most likely, your pulley was installed properly. I just take exception to the claim that pulley installation on Gen III engines is so simple that nothing can go wrong.

New bolt was given to them and is currently on the pulley.
1. Not sure if they used the proper GM tools.
2. Not sure if they used the old bolt and torqued down to 140 1/b and then used the new bolt and torqued down to 37 l/b of pressure.
I think that the only thing they did is take off the old pulley and put the new pulley with the new bolt and tightened it as much as they could. Instead of using old bolt to torque down 140 1/b and then use new bolt and finally torque down to 37 l/b of pressure.
I asked them if they did that and they said that they tightened it as much as they could only with the new bolt and that they are sure that there will be no problems in the future.
