Default whistle

My car seems to have a whistling sound that increases with speed, or well i guess i should say it increases with RPM. Im not sure what it is, ive read that aftermarket lids can have this effect, or a vacuum leak can do it also, but shouldnt a vacuum leak sound louder at low rpm?? any ideas??

I am having the exact same problem(or sounds like your description anyways). I took it to the dealer, they said it was caused by loose battery cables and feedback through the alternator/ac. Tightened cables, good for a week, now it's back. It doesn't happen every time I use the car either, but when I start it and it whines, it does so the entire time the cars in use.

It's coming from behind the dash, but I can't hear it when listening for something with my head under the hood. It's really starting to **** me off. Have heard suggestions from bad ground on the stereo(but it makes the sound with stereo on or off) to bad alternator, to bad U-Joint, etc. Car seems to run just fine.

I've done a million searches and alot of but still can't find the solution...really want to avoid taking it to the dealer for another no fix

Aftermarket lids can definately cause a noise like this. Depends on which one you have and how good the fitment is.

You guys dont remember that **** that was going around where people were welding whistles in their tail pipes and it would get louder at higher rpm's, and when the news asked the guy what the sound was he went "WOOT WOOT"????????
