Cool With $2200 what would you do?

I am looking to make sizable a change to my exaust system. What would you guys do with around $2200. I was considering a true dual system with LTs (QTP) over the axel (a must for looks) with buttit mufflers. Would you recommed LTs with a off-road Y, and new cat back? Is there a power/sound difference between true duals and an uncatted Y?

Thanks guys. Any other suggestions would be great.

QTP's are a perfect choice for LT's. I would recommend going with the true duals if possible (emissions testing). But if emissions is not a problem then true duals are what you want. Its going to be pretty loud with true duals, but you will get more usable power out of them compared with a catback and ory.

Do you drag race your car.... if so.... I'd take the money and buy a 9" ............doesnt sound like a hp adding mod..... but it sure is alot more fun being able to leave the line @ 6000 without fear of breaking but if you dont drag race: you couldnt have picked a better set of LT's! IMO

Get your long tubes of choice (if I was spending big money I'd go with Kooks not QTP), true duals over the axle, and use Sweet Thunder mufflers if you want it loud (I'd assume you do by the Bullets comment). For quieter go with full sized mufflers like Edelbrocks or Magnaflows.

I say 12 bolt of 9 inch. Then you can get a cut/out for now(cheep). Start your car from the ground up. Do all your suspensnsion tires first, then go hp. You wont be sorry!!

I chose QTP due to the stainless construction and I don't want to have to deal with any Jet Hot chipping issues. I do want the car to sound mellow at low RPM and like a true muscle car at WOT. I think I will rethink my muffler choice. What would you get for a more mellow tone? I will consider the 12 bolt end after I have the HP to justify it, as I do not drag the car. I am looking to get the most from the engine, and get rid of the rasp associated with the stock setup.

For a mellow exhaust tone I use and like 4" round body magnaflows. They are mellow at any rpm below 2500, come on good at 3000 rpms, and scream muscle car above 3000 rpms. I think they are a great alternative to bullets and give better clearance than full size 4"x9" mufflers.

Go with the Kooks Stainless LT's, X-pipe, & Moroso/Spiral Flow Mufflers.. A little quieter/deeper than the bullets and better sound in my opinion.. And you should have a lil left over for a few more small bolt ons.. or ear plugs?? lol

You're absolutely right, but man... It's so hard to do it that way. It's like finding a wallet with $1k cash in it and returning it with the cash!

I have heard good things about the MagnaFlows. Any other suggestions, and does anyone in AZ know of a good place to have the exauhst welded together?

Another vote for spiral flows or twisters. I have the longer twisters and I love the sound.
I hated the bullets, too loud and they sounded terrible at part throttle. At WOT they do sound like the gates of hell have opened up though!

I am going to take my bullet mufflers off before too long and the leading contendors are oval borla XR1's ($$$), sweet thunder (less than ideal flow), or maybe flowmaster single chamber (unsure on, have to research more). I have read good things on the round body magnaflows as well.

I have already rejected the spiral flos. A lot of people didn't like the part throttle sound, saying it was "fluttery".

I need to go round body for the best look. I am assuming the Magnaflows are a good choice. Does anyone have any suggestions when designing an over the axel true duals setup?

I paid less than $150 for my true duals, which was piping from my headers to the dumps at the axle. Labor was free, did it myself. Spending $2200 on exhaust alone doesn't sound like a very smart investment in my book

*edit* If you were curious at all, here's a picture of the clearance. It does look better in person, but I have yet to scrape my exhaust on anything, and there are some pretty nasty dips I've accidently taken. Mine's the dirty one on the left
