Cool making the move.

hey everyone,

ok, I realize this may be a dumb question to ask on this forum, but I'll ask anyway... just covering all angles.

Currently, I have a modded Mustang GT, and I've pretty much decided to make the jump to a '00 T/A (or close to that year, looking at a few right now)

Question 1, will I be happy with the power/acceleration etc????

Then, there are some things about the 'stang that I don't like, for example the challenge of installing cams, those modular engines are super weird. I also really like gear drives, and there's no such for those, since they are overhead cams. (This may be a real newbie question, but from what I understand, the camaros, and T/A's, you can, right?) I just like the sound, and probably wouldnt invest in a blower, seeing as how the car will be my daily driver.

But I've pretty much made the decision to make this change, due to the fact of having a ton of mods in the stang, and realizing it probably still wouldnt stand a chance against an LS1.

Bottom line is: I'm making the right decision, right!?!?!?????????

Yes! Typically, LS1's make about 75 more HP than a stock 99+ GT. GT's usually dyno around 215-230, while LS1's usually dyno 290+. Most people get GT's because they sound so nice stock. They sound nice stock because they come with true duals from the factory. LS1's don't sound that great stock, so that's probably why you see more and more people going towards Stangs. Most people think louder = fast, but it doesn't. If people actually did their research before they buy, they would find the awesome power an LS1 makes compared to a 99-04 GT or 99-01 Cobra. Ford really over-rated the power of the Cobra for those years...they are really comparible to an LT1 at best. 03-04 Cobras are a different story, but you get my point. I'm sure you don't want me to ramble on. But, stock for stock, the only Mustang a LS1 would lose to would be a Mach 1 (maybe), 03-04 Cobra (S/C) or a S281 Saleen (S/C). Stock 99-04 GT's and 99-01 Cobras have nothing against a stock LS1.

350 vs. 302...I'll take the 350

its a 345.7896 not a 350.

Geeze isn't that a little picky? Do you correct EVERYONE who doesn't list it out correctly to 4 decimal places?

um, even w/o the decimals and rounded up to 346; 346 != 350

but yes, i will correct people who do not get the right cubic displacement.

and the mustang hasnt ran a 301.5928 since 95'. the correct comparison would be a 2v 281 or 4v 281 vs a 346.
