Here in LA & OC there's plenty to choose from. I looked within 50 miles and ended up buying one from only 3 miles away.

Truthfully, I was more than a little nervous buying a car sight unseen. I wouldn't have done it, buy my buddy told me "If it isn't everything I say it is - I'll buy it!". That made it a lot easier.

well, if you get a car on ebay, so long as you pick it up in person you can always take the cashwith you and if it aint to your liking, just dont give the cash.

thats what i did, but i liked the car

never feel obligated to buy.

Youre better off just wasting your time and some travel cash then buying a car you dont want 100% and regreting it later.

Absolutely. I didn't feel obligated to buy it. Before he went looking for it, I told him what I wanted. I told him everything the car HAD to have. I also told him what I absolutely didn't want. I asked a zillion questions. I've known this guy all my life, and I trust him when it comes to cars. We've bought and sold over a dozen cars to/from each other. He told me everything about the car and then just guaranteed that it was everything he said it was - and he was right. I drove the thing for 3 days before I finally went to his house to tell him that I would take it. Plus I got a really good deal on it. When it was all said and done with, I'd be shocked if he made a dime on it. I don't regret buying it even a little bit. And actually, I was in the Gulf when we made the deal. How's that for distance traveled to get an LS1!

The wife drove me and a guy from work from northern IN to Boofoo, IL, hour south of Chi-town to pick up my buddy's '99 Cobra convertible. Then me and him drove the Cobra to Madison, WI to pick up my SS. Back to IN, Cobra following me with a V1. Grabbed my guitar and rocked all night in a local pub. One of the best days of my life, I must say.

Found mine on ebay in Denver. Im in San Diego. Had the dealer take it to a mechanic who I spoke to on the phone. Talked to a few customers of the dealer and another guy who was standing in front of my car as he was buying the other camaro the dealer had. Put down a 500$ deposit then got a one way ticket and drove it back. Very happy, I got a great deal and the trip was nothing but fun.

Don't even waste the trip. Contact a local mechanic and pay them to look at it. There are even some services in some areas that handle this sort of thing (checking out a car for an out-of-town buyer).
