Need Help w/ Insurance...it's killing me!!!
How do you guys have ins. through? I live in the Dallas area, will be 25 in 6 months and have some dings on my record. I can't find any ins for cheaper than about $300-$350 per month!!! That wouldn't be so bad but if I get an LS1 it will be my second vehicle. $350 a month for ins. plus the note is ridiculous for a 2nd vehicle.
Just wanted to see if you guys knew of a good(cheap ) company to get insurance through.
Thanks,
Caylon

I had an 02 Eclipse GT, and I heard horror stories of high insurance.
Mine actually stayed about the same. But go figure I had a GT before it too. I was like wheww, when I saw it. I think "not sure" their is a big diffrence if you get the LS1 with 340hp or without ram air. But for ram air and for 10 more HP it seems to be a big difference. Because he especially talked to me about that. I was like heck get the LS1 than and just add Ram air myself later?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing but how do you guys work setting up your insurance...like if youre still under your parents policy? I was thinking of putting the TA under my moms and putting me on her car. I just got a quote online through progressive for a 2001 TA and my moms Honda and they quoted me 3700/6months! Granted I have an accident not at fault and a speeding ticket but cmon! Also, Im only 18...19 in march, would that even help? Along with good student discount. Whats up with that?

Clean record, 19, State farm pay 85$/mo for full coverage.
Dunno how but I seem to be getting an awesome deal, my friend was quoted 240$/mo for a lt1 or ls1 car.
And I have triple checked, it IS full coverage.

put your car under someone elses names and just be listed as a 2nd or 3rd driver......have your parents list you as primary drivers on the oldest, cheapest car in the family......if you are still with your parents..........other than that, don't get a ticket......its amazing how your insurance will spike with a few "dings" on your record.

$131.00 a month for 2 DSM's (liability only) and the Camaro (full coverage)and the 'Renters Insurance' included with Nationwide. Nationwide has an 'accident forgiveness policy' and 'family compensation'.
When I wrecked my Explorer into a bazillion pieces my insurance did NOT go up a dime and because of the 'family compensation' part of the policy they paid out a bunch of money for medical bills (for our family) as well...
You should not be as concerned with getting 'cheap' insurance as you are with getting 'good' insurance that will cover you 'IF' something does happen.
Unless of course, You have the money to insure yourself and are just getting it to be legal in your state.

Someone explain to me why it costs more money each time you add a car to your policy? Maybe I'm missing something here but you can only drive 1 car at a time! I drive my Dakota most of the time and my Camaro on the weekends or when the weather is nice. I still drive only X number of miles each week. My insurance should be able cover the repair/replacement of my vehicles and then should be based on the number of miles I drive with my driving record, age, etc., factored in. Between the wife and I we have 4 vehicles. When we added the fourth vehicle (for my wife) they said, "more money please". Why? She simple moved from using 1 car to the another. How does that increase their risk? Someone please explain.

Keep'em coming guys...I'll try State Farm and Nationwide to see what they say. I might just have to wait until May(turn 25) or June when my record is almost clear to get a LS1??? Farm Bureau, my current ins co., will not even insure v8 cars.
What insurance co. is that. My dad has been with Farm Bureau since he was 16 (now he is 55) and only had 1 ticket and that was last year. He tried to get a 72 Stingray and 64.5 Mustang and they would NOT even consider insuring either one.
