Default Best lid

I'm looking to buy a lid for my SS. Is there really much of a difference between SLP, whisper, granatelli, etc????

If you can find an old issue (don't remember what month or year but it was within the last two years) of GM HighTech magazine the did a comparo with all the lids you listed. If I'm not mistaken the SLP lid was their choice.

The slp lid is known to rub on stock hoods. That is what I have and wish I had the MTI. Oh well

They Are All Pretty Much The Same But I Am Pretty Sure Mti Lids Fit Better But The Slp Lid Dosent Require A Breather Filter Like Most Other Aftermarket Lids.

Ditto here! I had to sand the bottom of the SLP lid because when you shut the hood it rubbed the top of the cone part. Also, I had to sand the tabs to fit better so the metal clamps would not pop open all the time. After that, no problems.

Forgot to add, I believe the company that won the shootout mentioned above is located in southern Indiana (within 45 minutes of me) but I could never get them to answer the phone, gave up and bought the SLP air lid.

GMHTP magazine did an article on them and tested all the major ones on the market and they all provided the same performance gains. The SLP did however have the best fit and finish of them all. But they are basically all the same, so just fo into the for sale forum and get a used one.

Yes the SLP lid was the best in the GM HI TECH test.
As for fitting takes a bit of adjustment. Mine did rub on the hood, but I found by backing out the hood stops a small amount took care of that problem. With out even messing up the hood to fender gaps.

Just a little FYI I bought an SLP lid back in April and haven't had any issues with it rubbing yet. But like everyone said they all flow about the same.

I went with the MTI clear lid because it looks really nice, it has a nice tight fit and is good quality.
