gettin some pinging while steppin on the gas, runnin 89 octane. what should I do?

Why 89 octane? Should be using 91 or higher, I use 93.

Yea DO NOT use 89 octane,use the highest your state has 93/91.

Manufactor states that the best octane for their LT1/LS1 camaros is 91-93 octane. Going lower than that could be causing your pinging sound. Try upgrading your fuel to one of the recommended octane levels. Don't use the highest as sometimes the octane rating could be too high, very rarely will you ever see that though. If you have a V6, then the pinging is caused by something other than the octane rating of the gas you are using.
