99 Trans Am or 96 Camaro SS
Hey all!! As some of you know, i will be in the market for a new (old) car. I want something muscular, mean, and agreessive In my local autotrader there is both a 99 T/A and a 96 SS. Both have about 90,000miles, both are autos. I've only seen the T/A in person, but not the SS, since the dealer is a little further away from my place. I have yet to test drive the T/A, since i saw while i was on my way to work one day at a dealer. It would be my daily driver in the spring, summer and fall, but no winter. I fully understand that a test drive is mandatory, but for conversation sake, which one would you choose?

Depends if you want a rare car or not. Those LT1 SS's are going to be worth something someday if taken really good care of. Get which ever one you like the best, although LS1's are easier to work on, IMO.

For equal money I'd go for the 99 t/a. If the 96 is a good bit less money and you either like its style better or just have a better feel for it then the 96 really wouldn't be a bad choice either. Drive both before you make your own mind up though.

IMO all LT1s are ugly as hell and cant be made to look good unless you do a front end conversion and an engine swap because the LT1 engine is ******* ugly as well... but yeah pick which ever one you like the most, but remember LS1s dont loose if they do then it was prolly not racing, the driver sucked, it was agaisnt another lsX, lol

Also, the LS1 only has 25 more HP over a stock lt1.

I'd go TA but it's all personal opinion in what you want. I've had both LT and LS engines and between a ram-air LT and LS there is not going to be a whole lot of speed difference but I'd lean toward the LS speed wise and they get better gas mileage too. I like the looks of the LS cars more than the LT cars personally.

Why is everyone talking like the LT1 isn't a good engine? The LS1 is not that superior over the LT1 stock for stock. They both are very good engines. 0-60, they are about the same and then above that is where the LS1 shows its true power.
Whatever you decide on will be a good choice, IMO. You can't go wrong with either.
