Unexpected results, heh.
As of now, I my insurance is $208 a month, I have a good student discount which makes the grand total $108 a month. As of right now, my parents owe me some money, so they're paying half of it for a couple months.

im 19.. almost 20. i work full time at a hospital 40 hours a week. i own a 99 SS, that i pay 411 a month in car payments for... and 420 a month for insurance payment with the General. Then you add in gas, and its just a little bit north of 900 bucks a month just to drive that car! I was sad about losing my license at first, but now that ive lost it, i have so much extra money! my parents took over my insurance cuz i can no longer be insured... and im selling my car... but i got a girlfriend right before i lost my license, so im still broke!

GET IT MAN!!! Im a 22 yr old college student and before i started my own tmobile store i was broke most of the time but with a 99 TA, but when i ran out of cash i looked for a couple bucks everywhere i could, I put $2.38 unleaded, took the ttops off and just cruised and all my struggles were worth it. Dont get a 20k car but u can find a good deal for about 9k with 85k milesfor a z and trust me it will all be worth it, if you dont get it now u may never get it!!!Lifes full of surprises and its too short to have never owned a ls1. Yeah ull struggle sometimes but when ur older u may still struggle might as well do it for a good reason!

id drive it to the ground, its not worth fixin up and selling.
then when your around 18 get a 98-00 SS.
im 17, drive the car im my signature and with a clean record insurance isnt bad at all.
start puttin money away, as long as i can remember ive been workin some way or another and puttin money away.

Don't put money into a car you don't want...and by looking at your gameplan, it seems that you don't really want your V6, but would rather have an LS1. With that said, just get the V6 safe and road-worthy, and put away your pennies for a LS1

Again, I can't see the hatred for the v6; it really annoys me. Half the people say the v6 is worthless, but its really not a bad deal. Anyone that says they get better gas mileage with the LS1 over the series II surely hasnt driven both cars the same distance more than once. I own both a v6 and v8. the v6 gets waaaaaaay more mpg than the v8, every time, no fail. You want to save a buck, then get the v6. The only drawback is that half the users on this site will rip you to shreds if you dont get the ls1. /rant

A thought I get about 220mi to the tank. If you where going to get a 3.8 think about a M90 supercharger. I was going to do the same thing but thought about it and really wanted a LS1. Im glad I did I think you will be beter off with an LS1. Or getting a 3.8 and then a drop in a ls1. But dont get a car that you will only wish you had somthing else. I really wanted a 6 speed found real good deals on autos. But knew that it would not be the same. If your going to speed the money on a car get whats going to make you happy not wishing you had somthing else.

On an 600 mile stretch to Orlando, averaging 80 mph the entire way, I got 27 mpg(M6 99 SS)...with an engine with over 100,000 miles on it. With long tube headers and exhaust, these cars have seen 30 PLUS mpg on the highway. In the city, with 1,3,5 shifting, you can get 20mpg. these cars get just as good(and in many cases better) mileage than the current coupes and sedans out. im an enviromentalist of sorts and some of my love for these cars is how theyre so efficient for making so much power. Its the piece of **** rolling brick fucktard SUVs that are the problem these days.

Everytime I go on a road trip and put my TA in 6th gear I get 31 MPG... but that's on a road trip, 100% freeway driving at 75 MPH in 6th gear... I get complete **** for mileage around town because I have a tendency to beat on her, I think my last time I filled up with purely city miles it was something like 15 MPG.
BOTTOM LINE: Go for the LS1, there's no substitute.

V6 vs V8.. It's going to hurt you when you come up to a stop light, see a mustang next to you, he will think "ohh Im gonna get killed..." then suddenly he leaves you in the dust, and his girl is like "wow honey you finally won!!"
It'll crush you
Haha.
Ok reality If it is simply a gas mileage concern and a car to get you from pt a to pt b, then dont bother with either option Get a different car with great gas mileage
SImply take the v6 for a test drive or drive a friends, then go take the v8 out for a spin. Once you wipe the smile off your face, and when your hands stop sweating and foot stops tapping the pedals after your first WOT run. Then you decide which you want )

You are young, don't waste it working full time just to own a car and make insurance ****** even richer. Go out, have some fun, save the LS1 for when you are older and perhaps married. The insurance co. won't rape you quite so much then.
I disagree completely, now is the PERFECT time to have an LS1. Nothing better than having a nice car and being young
