Hey guys,

im looking to buy a 02 camaro SS, and it really seems like many people dont have any clue what THEY are selling anymore. I found a car i am halfway interested in even though its not what i was looking for, and everyone says to look at the door stickers to make sure everything is alright but the car is abotu 589 miles away so its not a short drive, i had them email me pics of them so if anyone could please decipher the stcikers and tell me what they say i will be greatly apreciative

Plug the RPO codes into www.lonestarthunder.com This car looks like a '01 A4 Z28 with 2.73 gears - recognize some of the same codes my car has.

This car has 2 options that the majority of f-bodies do not have but I would not consider them "rare" either. The first is that this car is a hard top. The majority of f-bodies in 02 were t-top cars. The other option is the Y3F option which is the "Sport Appearance Package". This means this car should have the lower ground effects and the additional 3 piece add ons to the standard Z28 sploiler. Other than those 2 it appears to be a pretty standard 02 Z28. This was a very early 02 given the 6/01 build date. Other options are the NW9 which is Traction control, AG1 is power drivers seat, AU0 is remote keyless entry, A31 power windows, QFZ are the Z rated tires, G80 is the posi rear, GU2 is the 2.73 gears and MX0 is the code for Automatic trans with O/D.

Hi. The other guys already implied this by calling it a Z28, but I just wanted to emphasize for you that the car in question is NOT an SS.

Also like stated above, be careful since there's paint over the stickers... might mean the car was in an accident and had to be repainted... or it might just mean the owner painted it a different color. Who knows? Run a Carfax, but that doesn't catch absolutely everything... it should tell you what you need to know, but also try and make visual inspections for signs of past repairs, that kind of thing.

All Camaro SS cars have the "WU8" RPO code, as shown above. Any SS with additional SLP options added on also (i.e. chrome wheels, Auburn differential, etc.) had the "Y2Y" RPO code also. (I think that's what it was. It's been a long time since I've delved into this) Remember, you can also call SLP with that VIN and they can tell you if it was an SS, too.
