Need new valve spring setup...need opinions
New to the website and its awsome. I have an '02 ss and I read somewhere that the stock valve springs are no good, so I was wanting to replace them. I bought the car brand new in 2002 and now has 45k miles. I would appreciate any good advice.

yea man unless you are going WOT every single run to over 100 for every single mile of the car's life, you'll be fine.
we say things like the rear sucks, the auto tranny sucks, the valve springs suck...but that's because people here mod the crap outta their cars on here.
as long as you keep your car relatively stock, you won't really brake anything on the car as long as you drive like a normal person. no part on your car, as long as you drive like a damn madman, is in jeopardy on a relatively stock car. it's only when you add stall converters, heads, a bigger cam, forced induction...that stuff starts breaking. an intake/exhaust car is pretty strong in stock form.

yeah well the reason I want to change the stockers is that in that same article it said that the reason the motor knocks at start up is because of this. My car does have a weird knocking coming out when I start it in the morning but after a few minutes it just goes away. Any particular reason why it does this, doesnt seem normal to me.

It's a common problem in the lsx series of engines, if it's not causing excess oil consumption, you live with it
FWIW mine sounds like a diesel when it first starts, but it runs great
It's more prevalent in the aluminum block simply because al doesn't muffle the sound like an iron block

It can't be from failure to hold close tolerance parameters while rushing to assemble these engines on an assembly line.
