Default advice to make 2002 camaro z28 faster

I just got a 2002 camaro z28. I have about $2000. I want to make modifications(not nitrous). My ultimate goal is to get a 1/4 mile time below 12s. Where should I begin?

sorry man but your not going to get below 12s with $2000 without nitrous. but if i were you i would start with the basic bolt-ons. Lid, LT headers, cat-back, tune, etc.

The only was your going to get below 12's with out n2o is.

If your an auto, get a huge stall (5,000+) and some big rear gears (4.10 or larger) and take a bunch of weight out of the car. And get full bolt-ons

Below 12's without nitrous for $2000.00?
you've got your work cut out for you my friend if your car is stock right now.
But two thousand will get you a real decent start.
Are you a manual or auto?

Depends on what you have.. Auto then stall and sticky tires may drop you into the 12.9's. With 2:73 gears, lid and catback I ran 13.54, plus I weigh 300 pounds. The 3400 stall I have took 1/2 second off my times, so with lighter weight your there.
you might be able to get there with 2k..
Stall $450 install $250
Tune $400
Nittos and used wheels to put them on about $400
Lid $75

lid+headers+torque converter should get you pretty damn close if you have an auto. might have a little money for some sticky tires when ur done too.

lid is the big plastic thing at the front of your engine bay. stock its very restrictive. Cheapest first mod at under $100 and should help the car breath should pick up a couple horses. Torque Converters are numbero uno for autos, if you dont mind the loss in gas mileage. Dunno exactly how they work, but hear that 3200-4000 TC is what most go with to get the most out of the auto.

right on. search torque converter and report back. my vote is for a vigilante 3200 for your car. you will love it. i went 11.8s with what i listed above+ some suspension. im out to party.

Used cams are running 250.00 on up.But the pushrods and related parts
(springs, retainers, valve seals and gaskets) will push the cost up. The total will be in the 450.00+ range for just parts. The install can usually be covered by BEER!!

stall $500...cam and springs 6 to 7 hundred..that's about 1300 hundred. Headers another 400. that's 1700...Lid and k and n filter about 150. wheeew you runnin outta money.what's that? 1850..ported throttle body..about 150. Hell that's 2000 right there..Can you borrow a couple of dollars? Get a mass air sensor too about 200. and you still wont get out of the 12's but you'll be close. and that's the truth.. You're gonna need some gear and if you do buy a stall make sure you get something 3200 and up..I learned the hard way. wasted alot of money...
