Default talking a person down in price

hey, well i found what might be the fbody w/ my name on it.. to begin its a 1999 ta ws6 with 9k miles on it... yes 9000 not 90,000. kbb gives it around 12-14k.. the private seller wants 20k. i was thinking what or how do you think i can get the guy to bring the price down.. the person said he was pretty negotiable too. i was thinking 15-16k would be pretty fair price since its a 1999.. and they usually run lower in pricing then say an 01-02 anyways thanks for your input!

well it sounds like what your offering him is the right amount of money, but dont buy the first thing you see. You gotta be patient. i got my T/A from some rich kid who bought a jag. and was just trying to get rid of it so i was able to get it for under trade in. good luck in buying your car.

Basically act like you've got a line on several cars to look at/purchase
The biggest thing is don't get too emotionally involved with the car (sounds weird, but you know what I mean) keep a level head and if he says no to your first offer, say thanks and walk away, leave him your number in case he wants to reconsider
Call in a week to see if he still has the car, he'll be more likely to sell it if its been sitting around for a bit

This car? https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...9&page=1&pp=20

I think you should be able to get that price down some. But really, that all depends on how motivated the buyer is to sell....

There are a lot of people that want to get the most out of their car. I've seen a lot of low mileage newer cars in mint condition go for what this guy is asking. I would say 17-18k at the most. It is a beautiful car, but it's too high of an asking price, unless someone is looking for that exact car.
