A4 or M6? Getting low 12s/11s will be easier in an auto. DR's, TC, and a cam should get you near your goal if you're an automatic. With an M6 it will be a little tougher unless you're a good driver. But all things considered, I'm thinking 11s aren't very possible with only 3,500 to spend.

Weight reduction is free (sort of). Cam, full exhaust, intake, tires, and
a tune is about the best you're going to get with limited funds and
no nitrous.

do you have money for when you break ****? or is it just a weekend car?3500 would be enough for headers back and a cam and tune, and that could get you close with a wild enough cam...if your not doing the install. if you do it yourself...you might be able to get heads. Then you also need suspension to hook up. do you have money if you blow your rear? clutch?..ect?

full exhaust. Don't forget a a few hundred for the intake...ported TB, lid, etc.
Those LCA's and adjustable panhard bar that your most likely referring
to is going to plant the sticky tires, which means that stock 10 bolt
is going bye bye at some point. His car is a daily driver so pay
now or pay later. It would be better to do the work up front and not
get stuck somewhere with one broken vehicle. My 2 cents.

Your right about the intake, I didn't see he had a 98. His sig says he already has SLP Headers and someone's exhaust. That should handle the breathing part. New LCA's and a torque arm to help a sticky set of tires hook up should put him where he wants to be. The 10 bolt is going to break but that is a problem we all have.
