Tough Decision
Sup Everybody... I dont own a LS1 yet but am planning on getting one in about 3-6 months. My Question is ... I have always liked the 98-02 WS6 and have been amazed with its power. I am trying to debate if I should get a WS6 or a C5 Vette. I've been to a few dealerships and have test drove both cars (stock) and was very impressed on the power it both put out. I also realize that both of these cars are LS1's but I also assume they have to be very different in some ways. The average price range around here for a WS6 is about $20k and the average price for a C5 is about $25k (give or take). Im really stuck in a crossroad and I need some info or just opinions to help make my decision. Thanks and I appreciate your posts.

Personally I would take the Vette hands down! Ive always been a big corvette fan. When funds permit id like to go out and buy me one. What year corvette is it? Only thing you really have to ask yourself is do you want 4 seats or 2 seats

Go with the vette! WS6's are nice cars, and you wouldn't be going wrong by buying one, but vettes are so much more fun to drive in my opinion. I have a vette and an f-body, and the vette just drives so much nicer, it feels better, and handles much much better.

I'd go for a WS6 personally. I love the vettes but when it comes to practicallity for me its T/A all the way. Better MPG, and I love cruising around with people in my car, and that dont work so well with two seats. However go for whatever fits you the best!

I'd go with a Ws6 just because around me there is too many vettes. Although i'm sure the vette is superior in handling and quality. At least you'll have more money to mod if you go Ws6.

Also,.keep this in mind... In your case,.....what kind of power could you invest into the WS.6 with that 5K that you'd be using to get the Vette instead. 5K can go a long way!
With that money,....you can get your WS.6 to beat the crap out of a Vette.
Personally,....I'd have alot more fun and pride in my WS.6 KNOWING that I can beat a Vette as opposed to driving arround in a Stock C5.

I have a 2002 WS6 and a 2004 C5. Insurance is $250 less on insurance every 6 months on the vette (I"m 26). I'm not really sure why that is but it something you need to think about. Also the MPG in the vette is better. I always get over 28 MPG on the highway in the vette and only get about 23 MPG in the WS6. Neither of them do to bad but if you drive a lot those gallons really add up.
As far as what ones the better car??? The vette is hands down. $5k is a small price to pay for what you get with the C5. Don't get me wrong though...I love the WS6 too its just not the same as driving a vette.

I would vote WS6, you can take a few freinds out in it where 2 seats would be a problem. Hell I got 6 people in my TA, two girls sitting on the other two in the back, the rear view mirror was dam good to me that night.
People sometimes ask me am I working my way up to a vette, I think yeah, right, as if. I'm very happy with my car. The WS6 ceratinaly isn't as common as a vette, well not around here anyway.
Someone mentioned that the vette has better mpg, well, the vehicles are simular weight, identical engine, the WS6 is richer at WOT as default, so a tune you can make them the same. I guess the way the vette could be better mpg is speed/drag.
It has a lower drag coefficient and less frontal area. At low speeds i wont be much difference.
My freind has a C5, he got rid of it to get a Vauxhall Manaro its much like the Holden HSV. Its fitted with the LS2, has 4 seats, not sure why he changed perhaps he wanted more stock power, perhaps it was the 4 seats.

It is true that you don't see many WS6 TAs on the road these days. Thats what happens when they stop making them If you want to have a rare car then the WS6 is the way to go.
Now that the C6 has been out for a few years you can get a hell of a deal on a low milage C5. I picked up my 2004 C5 with 22k on the clock for $27,000. I was actually out looking for another 2002 F-body but they were damn near the same price with more miles on them. They were only about $5K less. After I checked on insurance my mind was 100% made up....why on earth would you pay the same price for a "poor mans vette" when you can get the real thing for less money per month?
