Double Clutching......
So this might be a dumb question...but what is double clutching? I know what power shifting is, but I don't know what double clutching is. Sorry for my ignorance in this area...

technically, double clutching is what some truck drivers do. It's pushing the clutch in going into neutral, then pumping the clutch before putting it into the next gear. It really has nothing to do with racing which made it very gay when they used that term in The Fast and The Furious.

So what would the purpose of it be? It seems like that would slow your shift way down. Or is that why its dumb, because it serves no purpose and doesn't do you any good racing?

the purpose of double clutching is to syncronize your gears so you keep from grinding them. Most all cars have syncros today so it is COMPLETELY pointless to double clutch, however if your syncros become unsycronized its good to know, it will keep you from missing gears and grinding the hell out of them. Either way it slows shifting way down.

Right when you let off the gas, the pressure releases and then you firmly shift it into the next gear. Its not as easy as it sounds.

Closer than you think. Power shifting is keeping your foot on the gas while you clutch and shift. Shifting without the clutch is called speed shifting.

so is power shifting alot faster than normal shifting? or does it not make that big of a difference. and if you can speed shift, does it help alot? and what's it called when you only press the clutch half way down when you shift, and is it bad to do?

He uses no clutch at all? Yeesh...that's brilliant.
The gas pedal stays to the wood and you disengage the clutch extremely
quick and depress it just enough...not all the way to the floor. The more
travel in the clutch pedal, the more time wasted. That's how I powershift.
