gas pedal does not respond! why?
hi my friends a4 2000 ws6 trans am wont accelerate when you tap the pedal slightly, nor will it accelerate when you push on it like a granny. the only time it accelerates is when you push the pedal almost halfway through. why is that? he's only got 17000 miles on it. thanks guys any reply will be appreciated by us.

easiest thing to do to see if it is slack in the cable is:
open the hood and locate the throttle body.
with the engine off, have your buddy slowly start pressing the gas pedal, if the throttle body does not immediatley start opening there is slack in the cable.

Ok, have a friend go in the car with the car off, have the friend push the pedal all the way to the floor. If the throttle stop and the cable bracket don't touch then you have slack in the cable.
It is VERY easy to adjust. On the throttle cable there is a plastic housing with a clip that basically has 3 positions. One position is is all the way down, one is pulled up, and one is completely removed.
Pull the clip up, this allows a spring inside this housing to move, this spring determines the length of you're throttle cable.
Pull the throttle cable back until the bracket and the throttle stop touch. Then snap the clip all the way back down to lock the spring in place. If you have TCS you may have to do it on that cable as well.
Tada! No more throttle cable slack.

They are joking about the fact that they always floor the throttle because its fun, so its "always stuck to the floor"

its easiest to hookup a scanner and make sure your tps voltage goes from ovolts to 5volts (full throttle) or 0%-100% with a voltage meter find the signal wire and probe into it and watch the volts as you go from no throttle to full throttle.
