I am not F-body specialist but let me help you out.BTW take a pic of you rop codes on the door or use this link to figure things out yourself

https://ls1tech.com/forums/new-ls1-owners-newbie-tech/213148-jrp-s-faq-commonly-asked-questions.html

1: V6 and formula could come with T-Tops
2: WS9 is the code for formula
3: unlike most cars that you can buy firebirds options could and were stacked so to say on top of each other. EX. car 1 could be ordered with option "a", "b", or "c" but a firebird could have A and B or Aand C and so on. see my WS6 has the WS9 and WS6 code on the door if your is a real t/a (not ram air) it will have WS9 and the WS4(I think the code for T/A is WS4) code next to each other

hope this helps

Nick, if your car looks like the red one that bww3358 posted than its a TA if it looks like the white its a formula! As far as your options go, leather, t-tops, pwr win/locks, those are an option that any firebird can have V6, V8, TA or formula, I'm looking at the dealers book/brochure for 2000 right in front of me. I also just looked at my door and it has WS6 and WS9 but no WS4, it also has a LS1 rpo. Hope this helps u

does the side of your door say Trans Am? does it have a body kit? does it have the TA wing?

what else do you need? does it really matter? i doubt someone bought a formula and converted the entire thing over, decals and all. i don't get what you're stressing over.

This thread is retarted. Everyone has given you about ten million different ways to tell. BTW why does it matter if that's the way it looks now?

If you cant find find ws4, look for y82 (merchandised package-trans am base coupe). either way, you have an fbody with an ls1. I really dont know how else to define any of this...

firebird(v6 w/v6 body)>firebird formula (ls1 w/v6 body)>firebird formula trans am (formula with body kit and wing).

I have a 98 and I didnt find the WS4 rpo but its a trans am. my VIN proves it. Everyone has pretty much gave you everything and then some to determine if you have a t/a for not. just stop worrying, drive, mod, have fun

nickand98redta, try this, im pretty confident this should answer your question once and for all. go to carfax.com (you dont have to have a membership or anything) and put in your VIN and then go from there. Under year/make/model, it should say firebird formula / trans am if you in fact have a trans am. I just did it so u should be able to do it too. hope this helps you out.

im going to have to recant my statement. I figured since i had done that through carfax on my ta as well as my buddys, it only brought up trans am for trans ams. but i just did it with the vin of a formula and it still had trans am. So i apologize, i was wrong. guess my way wont work. sorry
