ok here is another questions i was wondering....

How does the cobra compare to the NON z06? Ive been reading the differences....looks like its more of a suspension and handleing thing rather that HP and so how do the cobra and non z06 compare to the z06?

+1 for Z06. It is always better to start with a bigger base. It is simple:

More CI = More Potential Power
Granted you might not be pushing either of these motors to their limits. The Z06 weighs a good 500 lbs. less.

Now if you were looking to get a Cobra with a KB. I would have to agree with Unit213. KB Cobras are damn fast.

But for the sake of both of the cars being the same price and mileage, I think you will be much happier with the Z06.

I've seen a few KB 2.4 cars to that before they blew up, but not a stock blower car.

BTW a stock 04 corvette will out run a stock 04 cobra, (non Z06)

There are people who have gotten bolt on ls1s into low 11s. Just because it's been done before doesn't mean just anyone can pick up a similar car and do the same thing becasue someone else did it. On average, I've seen full bolt on cobras run high 11s and stock z06s run low 12s. Some people have gotten stock Z06s into the 11s. Good luck trying that with a cobra. The Cobra may make more power but power/weight is what matters.

If both are the same price the Z is the better choice all around. Better suspension, lighter, more aerodynamic, and makes more power stock.

Cobras make some crazy power with a little as a pulley and exhaust. and the extreme ones with the kenne bell blowers. But come on...its a CORVETTE and a TT vette would just be badass!!!

eh?

Maybe not on the Eaton without a little nitrous, but as long as it's setup correct then there should be no problem with durability. I think the same goes for the twin screw equiped Cobra's. Just go and take a ganda over at SVTPerformance.com, there are loads of KB/Whipple Cobra's making serious power. If they kept on blowing up people simply would not mod in this way.

A stock 04 Corvette has pretty much idential performance (HP/lbft/0-60/0-100/top speed/ET/Trap) as a 1997 Corvette, if you want to split hairs then there's no difference from 2001 thru 2004.

A regular mn6 Coupe C5 (non Z06) should be capable of low 13's (consistant) to high 12's (good driver/conditions) @ 108-110mph. This is certainly fast enough to play ball with a 03/4 Cobra. But when a Cobra is capable of more consistant high 12's (even dipping as low as 12.6) @ 110-113mph then it is a hollow statement to claim a regular C5 will out run it.

A C5 Z06 - well thats a different matter altogether. Stock for stock a C5 Z06 should be capable of low 12's (common) even a high 11 (rare, good driver/conditions) at 114-118mph.
