BTW...that was a nice looking SS you had. I had
a base model 4x4, I mean Z28. It ran pretty well though
for the mods it had.

Thanks. I DO miss it at times, but then I slam ths gas on the Cobra and hang on for dear life. Gets me by.

Thats what I was going to do with the SS but you do realize that you would need a totally built shortblock to handle 19lbs of boost, THATS the money part oh and a good rearend. Power is power but up to 600-700rwhp, a Cobra is eaiser to do and OH so fun!

I would say 03-04 Cobra but Mustangs are a dime a dozen around me. My cousin recently picked up a 03 Sonic Blue Cobra with 24k miles, Whipple W140AX and full supporting mods for 24k. It also had a new longblock and supercharger assembly installed under warranty at 13k miles. Nice car but I like my SS better. In the spring we will run many times I can tell you that much. I think with my Ported heads, 233/239 cam full boltons and TNT F1 kit with a 150rwhp shot, I will get him but it will be fun nonetheless. For the price he paid it was a steal. I actually thought about picking it up myself.

If there both STOCK with exhaust, then yeah the COBRA sounds better. LS1's with full exhaust, Heads/CAM sound wayyy better than 03/04 cobra's in my opinion!!

I dont know man, my SS had your same cam, PP STG 2 ZO6 heads, LT's, and all the bolt ons and a 100 shot and It took the 100shot to JUST beat my Ported Eaton Cobra by about 1.5 cars through 4th. So if he is running 17-19lbs of boost on the Whipple, you WILL need 600-650rwhp. You may be around 410-430 now but a 150 shot isnt going to get you 150rwhp and that may be a bit shy STILL. It should be alot of fun though!

It will def be fun. The TNT kits rate their jets as RWHP gains. Most cars ive seen with similiar setups are in the 575-600 rwhp with over 600 rwtq. Its all in good fun on our part.

Interesting comments here.

I break it down this way. Do you fit into the cobra? I'm to big for a mustang myself. My head hits and it really isnt comfortable. SO comfort should be looked at.

What about prices? Which cost more. What are your plans with the car. You can get an fbody for very reasonable prices these days. How much do you have to spend?

Stock vs stock the cobra is faster

However you can mod an ls1 for reasonable money and make it faster than a stock cobra and still maybe have less into it than the cost of the Cobra. My car ate stock cobra's for breakfast. Get a pullied one on the line and you really need a good running ls1 to beat it without n2o.

And FYI I've not seen a pullied cobra put out 650 hp in my area but I'm sure they're out there. Seems to be the avg around here is 500. But I guess you just need a different pulley? anyway a good shot of n2o on a h/c car will hang with a cobra

Black is by far the best choice in color for either car.

jayplay what are your dyno numbers?

Yes, I fit in a COBRA...I'm only 5'8" and 165lbs...I like how it rides, but I HATE where the shifter is!! I drove a few of my friends COBRA's. A 04 Mystichrome, 04 Torch Red, & 04 Silver COBRA...I feel pretty comfortable, but the clutch is REALLY stiff. I love the way my SS Drives and where the shifter is. I think the COBRA rides a bit smoother due to the IRS. Anyway I'll soon have both...It seems like MOST H/C/I LS1's are beating up on pullied COBRA's! I'm thinking about doing H/C/I on my SS before I get a COBRA, but we'll see...

None yet.

Running Amazons' tune and it runs WELL. I do have to dyno it to make sure its safe though soon, time is money and when you have a shop that eats ALL your time its difficult to MAKE time. I refuse to " drop the car off " somewhere.
