Well first of all there is no way that ur thermo is gone, second of all just look at the temp needle..................... I know they arent terribly accurate but just a general idea will tell you if its the stock ( 200ish) or the aftermarket(160ish)

Is your car a '98? If so those readings sound about right for the stock t-stat. That's the only year that will register minor changes in temp on the temp gage.

'99+ cars will always show "210" unless the motor is still very cold or it's seriously overheating.

With my 160* T-Stat it shows maybe 1/8th inch under 210* in fully warm position.

yours will ALWAYS read that no matter what thermostat you have in it. your temp gauge is a dummy gauge. it only works if it overheats.

my 98 wont touch the 1/4 mark on the gauge unless im sitting idling, otherwise its barely above 160.

Thats weird, because its definitely noticeably lower than when stock. So no it doesn't always read that.
